Controllable Turrets

At last! the Panther G and T34 will be available with Controllable Turrets this coming September 18th!

Namuna 08-05-2003 11:45 AM

Alright, how'd you find out it was Sept 18th?

Napalm_Guru 08-08-2003 10:13 AM

http://www.micro-ir.com/combat/lineup/index.html It's on the line up page.

Strangely the CT tank cost 4500yen instead of the 5980yen for the older tanks. I recall reading somwhere on micro-ir that you need to buy a special controller for 2980yen seperatly.

just about 4 weeks!

Namuna 08-08-2003 11:25 AM

I just got the lowdown about the new Controllable Turret Tanks. Thanks for putting me on the trail Napalm.

Here's the deal...

- Starting September 18th, they will be offering the new 'Turret Controllable' Tanks...4,500yen retail. This is for the Tank and a ROM chip ONLY! The ROM chip that comes with the Tank is intended to be put into a regular controller (making the upgrade for folks that already have tanks much easier because they already have the controller!) and the controller is then able to make use of the Turret.

- Also offered starting Sept. 18th, the Controller by itself. This is the SAME controller that came with the regular tanks.

So, for people that already have Tanks (like me), you only need to buy the Tanks (for 4,500yen) and swap out ROMS. For folks that never had a Tank, they'd buy the Tank (4,500yen) and the controller (2,980yen)

I am 99% sure of this info, but I'm having a friend who can read Japanese verify for sure.

jayd177 08-08-2003 04:27 PM

I knew the problem had to do with those darn rom chips! Otherwise we could have done it ourselves. Arrgg!

Thanks a lot for the info. I can't wait.

great news! very happy:D

Namuna 08-09-2003 03:55 PM

Just and FYI, I got confirm. The info I posted is correct.

arch2b 08-09-2003 04:20 PM

namuna,
any idea when or if trc will have them? although i'm sure they will show up on eb@y firts as things usually do. if i'm going to spend the money, i'd like to spend it here;)

Namuna 08-09-2003 07:01 PM

I've been discussing that very topic with Tiny recently. As it stands, his answer to me is "I'll try".

Every so often there's something that comes along that I nag after him to make sure it happens...This is such a thing.

As Sept 18th gets closer and closer, I'll be sending more and more reminders to him!

Namuna 09-01-2003 12:14 PM

The Combat DigiQ site now has pictures up of the new Tanks!

arch2b 09-01-2003 12:38 PM

i didn't see any pictures....just the movie clip! they look great! can't wait to get a battle set....

arch2b 09-11-2003 10:09 AM

7 days and counting...hopefully they won't be as expensive as the intial releases were....

anyone know if all the current tanks will be re-released? also, i'd like to get 2-4 tanks, anyone have suggestions as to which ones are best?

savall21 09-11-2003 01:32 PM

does anyone know where to order them from?

Chris

arch2b 09-15-2003 08:03 AM

i have strong reason to believe they will be available in the shop here;)

Itan 09-15-2003 10:31 AM

I hope so tiny store is the best for me cause it gets to me in 2 or1 days i dont remeber but it was fast. tiny can you verify this? plz casue i wann make and order.

savall21 09-15-2003 02:41 PM

If the tanks are going to be sold here, does anybody have dates or prices? I saw the stuff on ebay. I would prefer to avoid the shipping costs if at all possible.

Thanx
Chris

arch2b 09-15-2003 02:54 PM

i'm as excited as the next person to get some of these but patience has it's rewards;)

i'm aware there are some tanks on eb@y but i have yet to see any listed as the new variation...can someone post the item number?

savall21 09-15-2003 03:04 PM

Here are the links to ebay:

arch2b 09-15-2003 03:24 PM

well, from the auctions you can assume the cost will be anywhere from $40-60 (closer to 40 hopefully). it's nice to know they won't debut at the high prices i was told the originals did

Namuna 09-15-2003 04:21 PM

Don't get caught up in the 'upfront' price. Once you take into account what the seller wants for shipping and 'other' charges (like on that ebay link above, the guy selling the Tanks says if you're paying with PayPal you gotta add 5% to the amount, including for shipping).

arch2b 09-15-2003 04:58 PM

that's why i suggested 40-60 as a possible range considering trc will have to include their shipping, processing and mark up costs. i'm sure it will be about 60 but the lower the better. this is all speculation of course and your right, members should not be comparing asian ebay prices with those of the shop because the ebay sellers save the high shipping cost for the fine print.

Itan 09-15-2003 06:26 PM

i dont care all too much but the sooner i can buy them the sooner i can play with them at work. i've been a silent observer of these for almost a year now and this was all that i've been waiting for.

this may sound noobish but how far does the turrents turn? it looked on the ebay seller that the turrets turn only 120 degrees that true?(sorry thats most if not absolutly been coverd sorry)

Namuna 09-15-2003 08:45 PM

Nope, it hasn't been covered Itan (because NO ONE has them yet).

I believe the 120° is correct. Which is still just fine by me.

Itan 09-15-2003 09:47 PM

darn no drive by's.........

Namuna 09-15-2003 10:06 PM

Well, even if the turret were 360°...The Tank has to be stationery before rotating the turret (as I understand it).

Itan 09-15-2003 10:21 PM

yeah i know but from what i read and umm... dans reveiw page...umm a link would be better http://www.dansdata.com/digiqtanks.htm there he said that you can just stop for less than a sec and fire then keep moving. ah well... still gonna buy them all once they hopefully get relased again.

Namuna 09-16-2003 09:23 AM

Don't worry, I'm not discouraged by it's MINOR imperfections whatsoever...As a matter of fact, doesn't a REAL tank have to be stationery as well?

arch2b 09-16-2003 11:00 AM

not so...tanks like the abrams, cheiftan and the german model can rotate and fire while moving. this is what led to the slaughter of the russain t?'s in iraq in the 1st gulf war. that and we had thermal/night vision;)

Itan 09-16-2003 02:20 PM

the sweetest thing about hte m1a1 and the m1a3 or was it a2 anyways its normal m1a1 but it has anither pod up top for the commander to look for another target as the gunner has another pod so that he/she can always keep the target in sight. also it has electronic stabability controls for the turret so no matter what the tank go's over the tip of the barrel doent move. if you ever seen one on the run the turret just dosent move its creepy

arch2b 09-16-2003 02:44 PM

yep, there was an hour long show on the history channel, extreme machines i think it was, on the abrahms and other european models. got to love some of the history channel shows;)

Itan 09-16-2003 02:58 PM

when i first moved we got cable in are new house and that was the only thing i watched and it was sad cause in about 3 weeks i saw everything the history channel had....

Okay, now this makes me think...With the Combat Digi-Q, what if 2 people could control 1 tank?! One guy driving, other guy on the Turret!

Perhaps this COULD be done? If 2 controllers had the same ID as 1 tank...1 guy is driving and the other guy is constantly holding down the sequence for turret rotation?

Itan 09-16-2003 04:07 PM

wow i didnt know i was quotable.

Namuna if your idea is right thats gonn abe soo sweet not you can get 8 people in a game instead of 4 ah man i hope this works.

eh wait wont you need 2 controllers and then 2 of the same mod chips?

arch2b 09-16-2003 04:59 PM

so, is the problem that you can not move and turn the turret at the same time?

Itan 09-16-2003 05:51 PM

no i'm jsut saying that you willl need 2 controllers witch isnt the big proble the problem is that you might need 2 of the new chips to run them....... but you also might not if you can still run the new tanks on an old controller freq and then use the one mod chip you do have just to run the turret? i dont know i dont have them yet.. the better question is to ask can the new contollable turret tanks run on a controller without the chip and if so them maybe you can have 2 people on a tank

Namuna 09-17-2003 02:23 PM

I will call my collection complete when I have 1 of all the tanks AND the Sound System

arch2b 09-17-2003 02:40 PM

we think alike;)

Itan 09-17-2003 06:04 PM

ok before i asked if the turrents onl move 120 degrees.

today i asked a guy in my english 122 (a little background he's form japan) i showed him the digi-q and asked if he has seen them but he didn't. i then showed him the movie and he began to translate it for me he dosent speak english all to well so it was a little hard for me to understand him, but i got the jist of it. in the movie i wish i could get a pic of this part but i can't. (i use alot of 3rd part software alot of that is in fact is manly home based programs so i cant veiw the movie at home and i'm lazy and don't want to fix it) in the part of the movie where there's the 2 numbers 60 and 120, the 120 means the degrees is that the turrets can turn. :) then the 60 something about the tanks turning it was hard for me to understand him at that part.

he also said that next week he was goning back to japan for 1 week. i want him to pick them up for me but i dont know him that well, but would be sweet.
