I just found these at Target. They are the DUB City Import Racer Cars. They are bigger than the original DUB wheels. They are 2 piece with a removable disc brake behind them.

ZipRC 06-15-2003 01:31 PM

mmm i want those white mr-2s

Here are the 4 colors I bought. They are all the same style, but different colors. They also had all red and all white. You can mount these with or without the disc brakes. They are only slightly larger than the Zip wheels and tires (Compare in pic.). They also came with some cool spoilers.

Here is a pic of the civic with the wheels installed. They fit perfectly in the wheel wells without having to shave the fenders, but I'm sure other bodies will require shaving the fenders. Again, you can choose not to have the disc brakes behind them if you want.

Here is an even better car for these wheels. This just might be my new favorite car in my collection.

Queso 06-15-2003 05:00 PM

I totally dig the brakes behind the rims
it looks so very sweet

metsrule119 06-15-2003 05:02 PM

Awesome!!! How much did those cars cost!?

skklown 06-15-2003 06:24 PM

did u have to "adjust" or do anything to the dub city wheels b4 u put them on ur zip?

Bad Company 06-15-2003 07:41 PM

The cars were around $2.50 each. As far as mounting them, you have to drill out the wheels for the front and run the existing pins thru to the knuckles. You drill the rear out , add a spacer on the non-driven side, and super glue them to the existing rear axle.

strider_mt2k 06-16-2003 04:29 PM

Oh wow, check those out!

The wheels are cool, but the disk brake thing looks awsome!
Neato!
I'll be looking out for these, to be sure!

Question:
How big are the axle holes, bigger smaller or the same as a Zip/MS/Clone?

Bad Company 06-16-2003 05:28 PM

The holes are slightly smaller. You have to drill them out just a bit. I use a hand held exacto drill tool.

strider_mt2k 06-16-2003 09:08 PM

Excellent!

binaryterror 06-17-2003 10:22 AM

HEHEHE More wheel mods for strider_mt2k!

Actually i am away from my bits (other scales have my attention), but this might make me dust them up and mod some more.

strider_mt2k 06-17-2003 04:09 PM

You know it brother!
;D

Bad Company 06-17-2003 09:29 PM

Hey Strider....my local KB Toys had the Hot Wheels Kit racers 2 for $5. You might want to check yours. I know you like those things.

strider_mt2k 06-18-2003 06:24 PM

Hmm, I'll keep an eye out for 'em. Thanks!

AUDI-TT 06-18-2003 07:18 PM

whoah dude those wheels looook sick

gangstermx3 06-18-2003 08:26 PM

nice, thats pimp

midget_man1387 06-19-2003 09:50 PM

hey ahh5hit, you think that you could apply these without a drill??

Bad Company 06-20-2003 03:54 AM

No. I tried installing them thru the original holes, but they were too small. All you really need is a drill bit the same size as the axles and knuckle pins. You can use pliers or something to hold the bit and make the holes bigger. The original holes willl guide you thru the wheel.

ZZNEWB 06-20-2003 02:53 PM

those r pimp nice job

midget_man1387 06-22-2003 03:27 PM

alright, well, i have eveything ready, holes drilled, and i actually have the rear mounted, which looks awesome. my only problem is removing the front pins... how the hell do you get them out?

Bad Company 06-22-2003 03:43 PM

I use 2 Gerbers or pliers. Hold the knuckle with one and grab the face of the pin with the other. You may have to twist back and forth a little bit. Just make sure you pull straight out so you don't bend the pin. I will post pics how I hold them later when I get home, I'm at my parent's right now.

TypeZer0 06-28-2003 08:52 PM

what did u use for spacers on teh non-driven side of the rear axle? i was tinking of looking for these tiny nylon washers that home depot sells for like 50 cents or something but they're thin so i woudl need to stack them. i think i've seen some as small as 1/8 inch diameter or so

Bad Company 06-28-2003 08:54 PM

Q-tips are the perfect size. The tube that the cotton is on is hollow. You can even get colored ones. Just cut the tube to length.

TypeZer0 06-28-2003 09:25 PM

thanks for the frighteningly fast answer :D

Just happen to be browseing through at the right moment I guess.

strider_mt2k 06-29-2003 09:27 AM

I haven't had much luck finding Dub City stuff that isn't much larger scale die-cast.

Bad Company 06-29-2003 09:38 AM

Every single Target I've been to has them. Other than that, I don't see them at any other stores. Every once and awhile, I see them at a Wal Mart.

strider_mt2k 06-29-2003 11:49 AM

Ahhh, okay.
Target is about the only place I haven't been yet!

TypeZer0 06-29-2003 01:42 PM

coudlnt' find it at my target, they only had the classics. gotta drop by my walmart later

cj1267 07-26-2003 11:15 PM

Found this in my wal-mart

http://pic8.picturetrail.com/VOL248/...9/30356928.jpg

It is made by Jada toys just renamed as Import Racer!

Bad Company 07-26-2003 11:18 PM

Yeah, that is they way they come packaged now. They are the same as the DUB City Import Racer diecast, they just changed the packaging.

BrokenMonkey 07-30-2003 04:03 PM

those look sweet. gonna run out tonight ad grab some.

BrokenMonkey 07-30-2003 04:09 PM

has anyone tried the bodies or other parts on these on zz's? if the wheels fit some other things might. it appears to be the same scale

Bad Company 07-30-2003 04:12 PM

Someone oh here has stuck a Celica body on their Zip chassis, but you would have to stretch the chassis. Others have used the spoilers and interiors on their cars.

skitle 01-13-2004 10:33 PM

where can i get the dub city cars
:bdrop:
