Dubs?

Pardon my ignorance, but what, exactly, are dubs? Is a reference to custom wheels/rims in general, or is DUBS a nickname for rims hacked off of some specific type of toy car? The only reason I'm asking is because I want some! If any of you have leads on good custom rims (ie what cars to hack them off of), please let me know. Thanks

Namuna 06-12-2003 11:58 AM

"Dubs" refer to the wheels hacked off of 'Dub City' 1/64th Scale diecast cars made by a company called 'Jada City'

jkellington 06-12-2003 12:18 PM

Sweet, thank Namuna. Now......where can I get them.

Canadian Bit 06-12-2003 02:30 PM

TRU, LHS, eBAY.

jkellington 06-12-2003 03:15 PM

Thanks, I'll try eBay. What does TRU stand for?

Canadian Bit 06-12-2003 04:47 PM

i believe dubs were the name for 20s.... almost impossible to fit under a car, but easily under an SUV or truck...

still, beamers can eat 20s, and even some japanese imports, like supras and the new lexus GS series....

TypeZer0 06-18-2003 11:50 PM

yeh, i always thought dubs meant 20 inch wheels cuz dub was short for something. i think if someone sed dub two or something like that it meant they had 22 inch wheels. kinda like ppl saying i drove buck twenty the other day, meaning they went a hundred twenty miles an hour

denden 06-19-2003 12:01 AM

Or gotta get that new quarter to eight .

English Translation ,. New 745 BMW .

no

DUB stands for 20 when u say i have dub 2s on my car that 22in rims

TypeZer0 06-19-2003 01:35 PM

it's funny how ppl call wheels rims cuz rims is just the outer part wihtout the center hub. so if u got 22 inch rims, how you gonan attach it without the center hub? :D

I saw a couple of Dub City cars at my LHS, but they were much larger scale die-cast cars.

I haven't had much luck finding them otherwise.

micro kid 06-29-2003 03:05 PM

I've seen them at some gas stations with other diecast cars

DraGula 06-29-2003 05:30 PM

its amazing what cars you find at gas stations nowadays...
20" wheels are also called blades

To bring this back alive... Rigs are almost perfect for a base to adapt DUB bodies w/ light modification. Not all will work though. One Example...( Iliked the pic. Most of mine nevert come out so U never see them:( )

Nice pic!

I found some dubs, and I've posted about 'em in the Zips section.
Here's my Civic:

starion_999 07-09-2003 02:48 AM

... just in case it was unnoticed the above pic was an example of using a "DUB CITY" body- not the wheels (which I used on another car). Thanx about the pic and your Civic looks good too.
