Porsche looks good !
Do you have an F40 ? I would like to see some nice pics of it - although the Porsche is the best looking car in my oppinion. - anyone else agree? |
The Countach is on it's way. As for the F40, I'm waiting for the yellow one to become available. I might be getting a Lancia Delta model for a project I'm cooking up soon and I think the Delta will be perfect fit for it.
Other three on my list is a yellow Modena, the black Mclaren F1, and a silver Audi R8. Then eventually I'll get the three Le Man's cars. I also love the Porsche! It's perfect at every angle! |
Here's what I got in the mail today! Dnano number four! The Lamborghini Countach LP 500s!
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09781.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09782.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09787.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09790.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09801.jpg And now, the four of them together! Subaru WRC WRX, Lamborghini Murcielago, Porsche 911 GT3, and Lamborghini Countach. The Countach is definitely going to need those Centerline alloy wheels from Aluma-Tech! http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09797.jpg |
does anyone have a side by side picture of the track width differences between an Porsch GT3 and a F40 ?
I noticed the F40 used #7 rear hubs while the porsche used #1 hubs. Is the car really that much narrower? |
Sorry, don't have the F-40 yet. I'm waiting for the yellow one to become available!
|
do you have a top view shot of your porsche w/out the body?
- I am trying to decide between that or an audi R8 (to replace the F40 body and sell it) |
I can take one some time this weekend. The Porsche 911 is short, but the 917 is shortest. You can not directly replace the body, you have to have special parts for the specific body that you are replacing with.

the first of many test cars for the new shop :P

Sweet F-40! Should definitely look into Aluma-Tech 5-stars for that F-40 along with PN tires.
I'm looking forward to the yellow version! |
Hey guys.
New to dnanos but not the scene. Was planning on keeping only 2, but since the 03 is coming out, I don't think they'd sell easy. Will probably end up keeping all of them... I'd have to agree with mk2. These things are ballistic stock and a whole lot easier to drive with gyros. Alot of the ascs look more to scale as well. Some notes: Harder plates on carpet is a must. And get rid of the transponder tag if you run on carpet. The K ball diff and atm aren't very consistent due to their designs... I've had better results running everything stock and the gear diff with 30k K diff grease. Only mod I'd probably run now is the hubs... I love my fully loaded 911, but the new f40 I just finished kicks it's behind with just a greased gear diff and bearings lol. Will get some colored gunmetal, gold, and black, wheels in when I make my next buy. http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/188...9240175.th.jpg parts |
Sweet parts! Where did you land the yellow F40? And I see you got yourself another green Murcielago?
|
hey marc,
You know I love yellow ferraris lol. I have my sources... You should know by now I could pretty much land anything K produces. ;) Yeah, I modded up another one after I sold you that one you were looking for. K diff is giving me all sorts of problems. The one you have now had a much better one lol. Will probably pick up the type 2mm Z and another mclaren and that'd be the end of my dnano collection. May end up picking up all the ascs at this scale as I sure as hell can't do that at the z scale lol. parts |
No way can anyone collect ALL 1/28 AutoScales, there are just simply too many of them!
At least the Dnano is more feasible to finish collecting. At least for a while. I'm happy with the four I've got so far, but would eventually like all of them. Next one for me will be either yellow F-40 or Modena. |
there are some that have complete collections, or damn near close to complete. ti's hard to tell what complete is to begin with as there is no official list of every autoscale ever made. countless one off's and limited edition jpn only exist that we frequently never know about.
i gave up collecting asc's long ago. i'm not about to start up again. to expensive to begin with. |

I agree with you arch. Remember that collection I had two years ago that I had to sell off? I'd be hard pressed to rebuild that collection again. Right now, all I have is the pearl white Murcielago and I planed on getting the other two, but just hasn't happened. I'm much more fond of the Dnano's anyway.
There are a lot of classic AutoScale bodies I'd love to get my hands on, but why bang my head against the keyboard for one I may never get? And why spend a fortune on AutoScale bodies when I can race a fully hopped up Dnano instead? Dnano's are much more fun to collect these day's. |

locking the diff with CA glue (or using the second setting on the K ball diff lol). My "track" doubles as the living room carpet and unfortunately some parts of my track will have more wear/unevenness than others due to everyday use. Running a sticky diff and harder plate vs. burning a dry diff in getting caught up on uneven spots and bouncing around in the rear is not really much of a choice for me. When I get a real track with less imperfections, maybe I'll return to dry gear diffs or something lighter, but right now I'm fine with what works. ----- I definitely see where you guys are coming from. I just like the detailing on these and the cases aren't as big as the zs so I don't have to worry much about space. I also get a decent pricing on them as opposed to the Z ascs, and there aren't as many to collect right now (around 30 excluding the plated ones as opposed to heaven only knows how many Z ascs). parts |

The dbr9 looks nice do you have more pics of it and the yellow F40?
I am selling my NIB red F40 and would like a yellow one just to "look" at haha. My driving body i think will be the porsche gt3 |
Only problem with these Dnano's is it takes a lot more to swap out the bodies than it did with the Mini-Z's. I'm sure you know that already but your last sentence made me think this. You should just get a second Dnano when you can and leave the first one as is. Or if you want something just to look at, why not just get the AutoScale?

By this :"I am selling my NIB red F40 and would like a yellow one just to "look" at haha." I meant I would sell my red F40 acs with the fitting parts as in my fs thread, and I just buy a yellow F40 Autoscale and no fitting parts. the dbr9 is look very very nice I wonder if that would be a "better" option than the porsche. |
nu,
K dnano ball diffs are sorely disappointing. :( marc, Some of the models in the dnano line are pretty hard to find at the 1/28 scale or aren't even made... the good looking bodies and extra space is pretty nice lol. pfx, Sure. http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/927...9270089.th.jpghttp://img38.imageshack.us/img38/918...9270088.th.jpghttp://img97.imageshack.us/img97/485...9270090.th.jpg http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/7244/200909270091.th.jpghttp://img97.imageshack.us/img97/400...9270093.th.jpghttp://img199.imageshack.us/img199/7...9270092.th.jpg I like the detailing on the dbr; decals have little lines showing and the faux carbon fiber is sick but... the scale seems a bit off. Like they just stretched it to fit the LM chassis. The front and rear hang real real low; the rear catches onto things very easily. 19F/20R (huge wheels), LM pod, and you'd need the v.2 battery holder or won't be able to clear the hood. Feels boxy and slow to me, but I got sick of it catching to the carpet, so I shelved it. It'd be overly expensive to convert to the dbr... The F40 is actually a good set up: just swap the body if you want a change. :) parts |
Already with a DB9?! I didn't see it on sale yet! Lucky you...
So you think it's better to stick with the stock diff? Nuno |
Been out for a month... :)
I'd say so... They are not truly adjustable (setting 1=too loose, s.2=locked, s.3=absurd) do not come usable out of the box, and I suspect the balls used are too small as they always seem grainy. I was getting all sorts of headaches with my murc and thought it was tweaked somehow, but eventually figured out it was the ball diff. The shaft side sometimes would not bite or would lose bite during heavy acceleration at the 1 usable setting. I wish they included different sized spacers. Gear diffs seem like less rotational mass and getting them to work only requires the grease setting to your liking. That and they don't cost 30 bucks and time lol. :) Tires, bearings, hubs, and carbon plates seem required. Though the alloy fronts do get less stiff after abit of flourine and use but I'm still on the fence about those (depending on weight and surfaces run on)... parts |
DBR9 sounds more like a shelf-queen than a track-runner. Is it actually lower than the Murcielago? I thought the Murcielago's sides were pretty low. The F-40 is gorgeous in yellow and I plan on getting one my self some time.
Replicating carbon-fiber at 1/43 is certainly difficult to do. The DBR9 look's pretty good. Scale Motor Sports makes some very high-tech looking carbon-fiber decal in various scales including 1/43. Their 1/43 look's very nice and I've thought about placing some on the 911's rear wing and possibly front lip. Front lip might be a lot tougher than to get right than the wing. I've also thought about getting one of the Enzo bodies and doing a full-monty CF trim. |
hi guys i thought i would post a pic of my dnano its not in the best shape body wise but its good enough for me right now the only thing ive done is paint the centres of the wheels black cheaper than buying new wheels for now
http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...0920091189.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...0920091190.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...0920091191.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...1020091194.jpg |
nice ! =) Im going to spray my wheels too
|
i just used a brush to paint them but may spray them as this paint doesnt last long for some reason its only enamal paint

My Countach and Porsche with new shoes!
My Aluma-Tech aluminum wheels have shown up today and they are fabulous! My only concern is with the Countach's front wheels. They did not come with the proper bump on the inside that helps lock them into place when installed. I have e-mailed the company to see if they can make me a new batch with the proper bump. The rears are perfect and so for now I'm very satisfied. It's a good thing I don't have a way to drive these cause I'm sure the fronts will be an issue when driving it. So for now, these will do as display units. Enjoy the pictures! http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09819.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09821.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09825.jpg Here is the back of the wheels showing the missing bump. http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09824.jpg And the Porsche with it's new shoes. http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09826.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09827.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09828.jpg Despite the minor flaw with the front's, I'm very happy with the results. I hope they will make me a more drivable set soon! At either case, at least the Countach look's the way it should! :D |
they do look nice :) much better than the stock racing wheels.
|
Thank you arch! The Countach and Murcielago are now my two favorite ones. Both look hot together with their custom alloy's!
I'm not sure I like the Porsche as much as I did with the original white wheels I had on it. But at least now each car has it's own personality. |
Yeah the wheels look bad ACE, man. Do they hold tight enough to race? I can't wait until Miles can get the new models up on the website!
|
Heres my silver R8
http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/5400/12061648.jpg Need a spoiler and that "body kit" to complete that look: http://jalopnik.com/assets/resources...2-TDI-Live.jpg or the Le Mans version http://blogs.insideline.com/straight...0f34%20950.jpg |
audi looks sweet... the GT version of the Gallardo and R8 look the best imo and for that reason, i think the body kits for dnano need spoilers. they look naked without them
|
Quote:
That Audi is sweet! I prefer the street version over the GT version in this case. |
Sorry Countach lovers, I just learned that these wheels were one-off job's. While Aluma-Tech will certainly introduce 17's into the market, these wheels won't be done again. :D
|
Not bad.
You probably could have fit 18Fs. A dab of CA glue could probably hold them in place. If they introduce 17s without the nubs to hold them in place, that might hurt their sales... The stars look a little off, like they'd belong on an old school muscle car. Not a fan of the R8 but that lemans GT is sick. parts |
Thank's parts but I don't want to risk goofing it up with CA. As I said, I'll let you know how it performs. Seems to be on pretty good.
As for the stars, they remind me of the older more classic Porsche wheels. |
Some pictures of the option parts installed.
I've installed the disc-damper on my Murcielago, and installed aluminum parts on the Countach. Next upgrades will be complete package for the Porsche, and ball bearings, springs, and H-plates for the Countach. I might add a gyro on the Porsche, but not the Countach. http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09835.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09836.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09838.jpg Only downside of the disc-damper is it does not fit directly under some bodies. Had to drill a hole in the Murcielago for the top post of the damper. The Murcielago is now rock solid full on racer! Just wish I had a track to race on! :D http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09839.jpg Hole should be a little bigger to allow more movement of the system. http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09840.jpg |
And now, pic's of the Countach's chassis. Not much change here, just the aluminum steering plates up front and the aluminum hub's in the rear.
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09841.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...o/DSC09842.jpg I would have gotten the bearings for these cars, but the shop where I purchased the parts from didn't have any in stock, so those will wait till next week. I plan on doing the Porsche full tilt. |
