:ö:
i guess you've already noticed that the body i used here is not ROCO nor Herpa , yes you're right, this is only a temporary body, my LHS here don't have a 1/87 ROCOstock yet, but the owner told me that he already made an order on-line, and he said he'll give me a free ROCO body (i said to him that i need an IVECO body for this chassis), RX and a servo , but i have to build him one, he'll provide all the electronics needed while i do the work, man i can't wait any longer!

very nice work:D have you tried it on a course yet? it sound like you got a good deal, free materials and the fun of building a tttt (even if it's not for you). i hope you can get more for your labor though. you deserve it;) never heard of IVECO?

:ö:thanks Arch!, i am able to test this truck on my track and man!, having all-wheel-drive on a trial coarse is awsome!.. and with a double tire rear wheels, traction is not a problem, even on soft spots ;), another advantage of having AWD is that, say you are trying to go down an obstacle, example... casette tape case, matchbox or anything a bit higher, you may likely to have your truck hanging by the rear and your rear wheel spinning in the air because your rear lights or rear bumper get caught/stock on the obstacle before your rear tires touch the floor.. you won't experience this with AWD co'z you still have your front wheel to pull you out of that situation, yup! that's a real good deal.. he's just asking for a rear wheel drive only truck.. co'z i said to him that it takes me a year to complete one all-wheel-drive truck :D

here's the pic of the Iveco truck on Mikromodell.

woohoo..i just got my truck running....everything works fine except that i get mad glitching if im anymore than 3 feet away from the truck...the ariel wire is coiled up maybe i have to run it length of truck a few times, truck keeps juddering but i have full control of the servo with no glitching..maybe the motor needs capacitors on.

ill post some pics soon...dont expect too much its my first truck :)

which one? .. the last truck? that brown truck came from Mikromodell is an "Iveco truck" which i'm not sure what model it was, but i want one just like that... the truck i used on my AWD chassis is a small plastic truck that came from my son's toybox with his permission, of course :D (it doesn't have label on it or where it came from, must be from china?, i don't know :(, though i kinda like it :D, but i'm waiting for my LHS to call me for my free ROCO truck!!! wooohhoooo!!! :p

im having major problems with transmitter/reciever issues.

i cannot get the truck to respond if i am more than 3 feet away, its like someone else is on my frequency(which they arent)

i have:
gws r4p jst reciever 40mhz
sanwa(airtronics in usa i think) super exzes transmitter 40mhz
4*1.2v 70mah cells

now i have tried the reciever connected to the batterypack with just the servo so hardly any current draw and i still get about 4 feet range,so i thought maybe the ariel on the reciever is faulty so i removed it...still 4 feet without the ariel,so i replaced the ariel with new ariel wire...still 4 feet!!

ok so i tried spare reciever same make..still same..i tried 2 different crystals still same...tried hitec make 40mhz transmiter..still same grrrrr(pauses just to stop himself from doing harm to little truck)

im thinking there is a compatability issue with the sanwa/hitec and the reciever..anyone have any ideas?

Overlander 03-13-2003 10:44 AM

fastboy,

Are you using a converted servo type ESC?

fastboy 03-13-2003 11:47 AM

no,using a an rc300 from ttt

its not the speedo or servo or cells that are the problem..its a problem between the reciever and the transmitter somewhere.

i have tried the reciever with just a 4cell battery pack and a servo..no speedo, and still the same result..ive even tried a 4cell 2400mah pack and no joy, everything points to the transmitter/reciever combo, maybe they are not just compatable, ive tried 2 sets of crystals and a 40mhz hitec ranger transmitter(which doesnt even register any response with the receiver)...i wired my speedo and battery pack upto my standard sized 40mhz reciever and everything works fine.

ive even made an adaptor so i could try standard 40mhz crystals in the reciever and still no luck.

my last resort is a friend of mine is coming over later with his 40mhz transmitter (KO) so we can try that option,if that dont work i think i will get my hammer out and fix it myself :)

PUT YOUR HANDS UP AND STEP AWAY FROM THE HAMMER!!

Easy with the hammer there chief....

You seem to have tried to troubleshoot it in every way I can think of.

I have similar problems that seem only to be a problem in certain areas around my house, or outside my house. It works fine in my living room, but not in the garage where I work. I took it to a model railroad store to show it off. It worked fine on the counter by the cash register but not on their train layout. Maybe interference from the train rails?

Try going to a different location maybe?

Stupid things I have done that have caused problems:

Used a Futaba crystal in a JR receiver.

Wired the speed control to the receiver and not direct to the battery.

Letting uninsulated circuits touch.

If you can, try a completely different receiver and Tx from another model.

Let us know what you find out because radio glitches are a pain in the @ss after you have spent much time building the thing..:(

fastboy 03-13-2003 05:31 PM

ok i have made some progress :)

i have found out that it is the speedcontoller (rc300) that is causing the
"interferance"

1. i have reciever with only a servo connected
2. i connect a battery pack and everything works great,no interferance,good range

3 i connect the speedcontroller(without the motor connected) and the truck
gets interferance and glitches the steering, poor range

4. i disconnect the speedcontroller from the reciever and the interferance
stops,i dont even have the drive motor connected to the speedcontroller

5 i tried moving the speedcontroller away from the reciever but it still
happens

6 i tried all 3 of my speedcontrollers and all do the same,i will try a
homemade servo controller on friday and see if that works ok

so at least i am working it out a little bit...could it need some kind of choke or supressor on the power line to the speedcontroller..i know on my KO FET SERVO for my 1/10th car i need one to stop interferance.
