my diff is blown but the car does run the moter. it runs like it is soposed to be in there. but i just need a new diff. argg!! it is just the stock one that comes in the kit. i happened to have a couple around. it says S.T.D motor. on the back(no seriosly) the moters that come in the xmod are accualy these type of moters! if you look on the back it says S.M.C. motor. my theiry is that rs just buys them from tamiya and puts their sticker on them! here are the moters side to side...
they are exactly the same on every side!:p |
Actually tamiya is a model company, not amotor builder. RS and tamiya do probably buy from the same source, which is more than likely Mabuchi, but just because they're both Mabuchi motors doesn't mean it's the same motor. They could have manufactured to different specs.

yeah thats true. here is alink to the only moter like this that ifound on the machabi site, http://www.mabuchi-motor.co.jp/cgi-b..._ID=fc_130rasa i really want a diff so i can try it out!! i wil go today and see if they have the parts in stock or mabye get my mom to buy me the AWD early:p

Whoa that's some serious technical stuff.
|
i want to see that plasma dash put in someones car, they are the black motors that dont have endbells, they have some other type of end to fit the bigger comm. anyways i have blown several types of esc's tryin to run that monster. even one that claimed no motor limit up to 180 class motors (the tamiya ones are 130)
so good luck on that. i know the tamiya torque tuned and rev tuned motors are good upgrades for these types of cars, even the hyperdash if the electronics will run it, but that plasma is just evil you should see the size of magnetic wire it uses inside. looks almost twice the size of a stock motor. |
i wont risk it.:D i put silly putty in my diff utill i get a new one(thurs- next thurs:( )
the new tamiya (stock motor that comes in the kit) runs with more torqe and speed than the stage two! i am going to get some of the tamiya upgrade motors so stay tuned!! i hope they will be even better! Quote:

yes sir, the tamiya motors, miniz, minix, xmod are all 130. thats why they are the same shape and size with the exception of the tamiya plasma dash. micro rs4s and abc dtmx4 use 180 motors. if you can cram a 180 in an xmod it will haul. they have more speed and torque than 130s and they last longer
|
the 180 motors are way longer and will not fit in the xmod. i have the plasma, stock, and torque tuned gor the tamiya mini 4wd cars. the plasma is about triple the speed of the stock one(blue). if you use the plasma you should get stacked fets. cuz you need fets to run it in the mini-z
|
you may need alot of fets. my friend tried to run a plasma in his Z and it melted all the solder on the turbo he had. it was pretty funny. the fets were fine though. thats the odd thing, just teh solder couldnt take the heat it made.
|
To use the plasma dash on a mini z you have to have a turbo and even then it will melt certain turbos, not all, but you cant run it for a long period of time without it getting very hot.
You can run the longer motors in an Xmod but you will have to take out the rear motor mount for it to fit. |
i just want to see someone try :) and a nice pic to go with it. i am sure there is someone out there the wont read and will just put it in
|
i will if some one can donate money to me. if i can get $35 worth of donations ill try the plasma and anyother motors.
|
tamiya motors dont cost that much, i got my plasma for 11, and the rest for 4
|
i use to have a store in the mall that was all about tamiya mini 4wd cars and i bought my plasme there for $16 but ive seen them for $6 on the internet.
|
Where are you guys purchasing the Tamiya motors? Tower Hobbies or somewhere else? I would like to get a Jet Dash unless someone has already tried it. Please let me know if it's bettered then anything else out.
I had a Torque Tuned Tamiya motor that worked very well. Had more torque with more top end then the stage 2 motor. I was running a 10-tooth pinion with yellow plastic. |
