Yea I totally agree with Superfly...When you watch your xmod scream down a street or a tennis court...does it actually look like its going 7 mph...i mean come on....i have to sprint to try and catch it and i still cant even get close to it

cdog4w 11-23-2003 05:11 PM

How long are your legs? just kidding.

I've seen a bit of both on reported speeds. I've seen many people say that its about 8pmh or so, and many like you that maintain it must be going faster than that. Maybe this will encourage someone to pick up a cheap radar gun :P

Well, check out my math, but I don't think I made a mistake.

RedRSX 11-23-2003 05:45 PM

You math seems fine...its just that its 7MPH!! that seems really ridiculous...Just run it on a lo9ng straight and think to your self if that looks like 7 mph

cdog4w 11-23-2003 06:59 PM

Haha, I definitely know what you mean, tho I have a mini-x, not an xmod (tho I read the xmod forums since there's a lot of interesting discussion and I'm pretty new to RC). They seem even faster if you run 'em inside.

RedRSX 11-23-2003 07:59 PM

Ohh for sure...it seems like they hit 60mph when your weeving in your kitchen or wherever you race it. So what is the difference between the mini-x and the mini-z...and also how do the mini-x's compare to a fully upgraded xmod?

Hello :) my girlfriend just came up with a real good idea she said I could probally use a speedometer for a mountain bike or some sort to make a miniature dyno. How accurate would a method like this be?

RedRSX 11-23-2003 08:52 PM

The way a bicycle sppedometer works is there is a little sensor on the spokes of the wheel and a little reciever on the front fork...and as the sensor goes by the reciever is clocks how many times it goes by a second....so unless you can put a sensor the size of a xmod wheel inside the wheel and attach the reciever to the outside of the fender it would never work( BTW you will never be able to do that:D)

if anyone has a treadmill put ur car on the track and slowly increase the speed of the treadmill and the xmod (might need 2 people):D :bdrop: im about to go do that once i get my car fixed

RedRSX 11-23-2003 09:02 PM

I have already done that and my treadmill tops out at 15mph and my xmod can still go faster:D

stinky

I used the Stage 2 yellow motor....everything else stock except for the rear tire glue. and got 5.23, I lost a LOT of torque with the stage 2 yellow. higher top end though.....LHS was out of stock on the X-speed, placed order and should be in on Wednesday

major skyline 11-24-2003 01:51 PM

X-Speed is the exact same as Stage 2: 30 gauge, 49 windings
7.41 mph is average speed, i know their is a furmula to calculated final speed but i dont know what it is. i'll ask my teacher today.

major skyline 11-24-2003 02:19 PM

ok i got it : V=(f/s) , Vf=2V
so if (50/4.8)=10.42 , 2(10.42)=20.84 fps
20.84 x 60sec/min x 60min/hr / 5280 feet/mile
Final speed is 14.21 Mph. thats top speed in 50 feet, not top speed of the car

Ps.
scale speed= 397.85 mph
scale quarter time= 13.44 sec:eek:

Edit: to get scale quater time or speed multiply actual time/speed by 28 ( because the cars are 1/28 scale)

4G63T 11-24-2003 03:41 PM

for 50feet=14.21mph thast pretty fast if you ask me:D

RedRSX 11-24-2003 06:10 PM

I dont think that you scale time...because time is a constant...and plus...if it had a top speed of almost 400mph(scale) then dont you think it would do the scale quarter faster then 13 seocnds...

theMonster 11-24-2003 06:13 PM

hey!

This Post was supposed to be for posting simulated 1/4 mile drag times, no arguing scale formulas! So far there is only like 3 drag time posts! None of which are even close to mini-z speed. I'm getting disappointed here.....Somebody with a NML, X-speed or 6 cells installed....PLEASE POST!!!!
