Hi all, just a question or two or three about the Rocket Racer:
1. what are some option for wheels other than the stock ones? Will other manufacturers wheels fit, and if so, which ones and where can I find some?
2. Tires, need better grip! What tires will fit and which do you recommend?
3. I heard the Team Orion Motor for the HPI Micro rs4 will work, how easy is it to change out, and what is that motor called specifically so I order the right one?
4. Bodies. Are there any other bodies that would fit on the Rocket Racer Chassis w/o too much modification?

Four ?, any and all responses will be very appreciated, thanks in advance!!! David P.

The wheels for the ABC DTM-SP will fit stock, although they use flanged bearings unstead of the unflanged ones the DRR uses. I hear the Aktiv racer wheels will also fit, but I've never used them myself.

I've used ABC, Aktiv and WWS foam tires. All of them fit fine.

There are several. Any of the 180 sized motors will work fine, including the TO elite stock.

The Mini-X, ABC, Aktiv and 1/24 slotcar bodies should all fit. You may need to adjust the wheelbase of the DRR, but its designed to be easily adjustable. I'm sure other bodies fit -- these are just the ones I've used.

Also, some people have had success using model bodies. Guess it depends on what you want to do with the car.

You can get the Mini-x parts here at www.tinyrc.com, the Aktiv (and WWS at some point...) parts at www.intrepidrc.com. The rest you can get at any well stocked hobby store or online hobby vendor.

I have found that many 1/24 & 1/25th plastic Model model bodies will work. The larger cars fit easier than the smaller ones. some smaller cars are too narrow to work. I know that the 1/24th VW Bugs do NOT fit. 1/24th mustangs are close.

If you want something that takes very little prep work, Revell has a series called "Pro Finish" and the bodies come pre-painted. The Nascar Taurus, UPS 88, fit GREAT. I opened the wheel wells a little, but it almost was not needed. Then all I had to do was drill holes for the body mount posts and antennea.
