View Full Version : racing epoch 1/43
Has anyone seen much in the way of organized racing of these cars? I see a lot of talk about the cars themselves, but very little on competition.
Also, has anyone seen an affordable lap counter for 1/43s and smaller?
These cars are too much fun not to race.

Well, they have only been available in the US for a few weeks, so it may take some time before organized races start to happen. But I agree - why not start a race in your area!
And lap counters? Anything on the market yet that you know of?
I like that this is so new and there seems to be a lot of excitement around it. I am actually thinking of organizing a club for the kids (and parents) in my community.
I found the Bit Dra-g guidelines very helpful. I hope to see road racing guidelines out soon. If you already know of there existence, please point me to them.
You run a nice forum. Thanks.

rbtp, I saw a new lap counter for Mini-Zs that should work for the Epoch, it uses pieces of tap affixed to the antennae. I think it would be GREAT to organize a club for your community! Email us and we can help you out with group pricing etc. Thanks!
I think I know which one you're referring to. It runs about $350. I think there's room in this market for a lower cost lap counter. Something that the enthusiast can get his hands on to race with friends or for small clubs.
Lap counters seem to be something that only the bigger club organizers and commercial tracks can afford. I'd like to see something the ordinary guy could afford. I've posted to misc asking people what they think. I may be able to develop a product and make it available through shops like your own. Your insight is greatly appreciated.

Cool, I'm sure a lower priced counter would do well, there's really no reason that the tape system should cost $350.
The photoresistor type counters certainly shouldn't. I've seen posts on other site where guys have built them for $50. They also aren't very accurate, and the flags take away some of the aethetic apeal of cars.
I'm not ready to talk about the technology, but I can say it isn't photoresitor based.
