I set mine up to slip a little going from a dead stop to full throttle for about 5"

well the diff should not slip,if you need traction control then you need a slipper clutch

if you are using the diff as a slipper what is happening is the diff balls are sliding on the diff plate instead of rolling, what happens is the diff plate will end up with a groove all way around it ending up with a diff that is poor in performance and one which may not be able to tighten up enough.

you want a nice diff action but no slippgae...gain traction by better throttle control..feed the power in.

Fastboy is correct that the diff should not slip. It is just a personal setting I use for my lack of throttle control :D

I recently added a Team Orion Flash ESC. My DRR works great on the test block with wheels off the ground. However when I put it on the floor, it will often go in reverse when I hit the gas. I'm running it the proper radio orientation ( no- reverse control) and the Receiver- ESC - motor connection I believe to be correct. I'm thinking a diff problem. I just tried the opposite vs same direction question and both wheels move the same direction. But on second try it does both. Any thoughts...this could be why it stops in the middle of a run and goes 100% reverse with no input from my throttle.
I adjust the diff by tightening or loosening the screw in the right rear wheel - right?

I'm pretty sure you diff isn't the problem. It's probably the ESC. Make sure it's wired, and set up correctly. I've read somewhere that the flash was a little finicky during set up.

ok to check the diff:#

turn car off
hold car from rear
place finger/thumb on spur gear (large black 1 )
turn any wheel, the other wheel will counter turn

ok as for going in reverse..could be anything

1.are your batteries in transmitter good.
2.is your car battery fully charged.
3.are you using 4 cells..this could be a problem,you need 6.
4. make sure all your leads from speedo/reciever are neat and tidy, dont run motor wires over the reciever and dont run the ariel wire over the speedo/batteries.
5.does this happen in a set location.ie,indoors kitchen, near tv etc.
6.try another transmitter/crystal if possible.

the most likely thing i would think is batt voltage too low in car pack or a bad transmitter.

Boy, you guys are genius's! I flipped in a new set of AAA's and the DRR works great without a problem. The TO Flash works very well now. I feel like an idiot for not having tried that earlier. I bet I spent 5 hours last weekend trying new solutions but never swapped out the almost dead batts I had initially tested the car with.

Ocum's Razor yada yada yada...
Thanks
