Usagi:

Please, If I may ask......what Electronic speed control are you using with your Mini-x? Have you had any probs with breaking of the parts of the car? Nice MOD on the steering...your using a regular min-servo on it I assume. You don't have a servo saver I see...will that be a problem do you think? Love your mods.

P.s.

Did you do anything to your motor?? and have you ever tried the 6 cell option?

Kevin

I've been doing some digging. Now I don't read Japanese but from what I can decipher, the Mini-Xj is not actually a new version. It's just a normal Mini-X that comes with this made in Japan parts kit:

http://h045102.sharesite.com/cars/MX-J/image017.jpg

Steering linkage
2 brackets to mount a servo
Upper rear arms to adjust rear camber
4 low friction diff bushings
6 low friction wheel bushings
4 plastic wheel nuts

As far as I can tell, the chassis will NOT be black or changed in any way.

This is not a bad thing! It just means that hop-up parts are on the way. So go buy one. I am :D

The quility is much much better then the first series. In that way it is a different version. Better part production without the cheapness, All the info you wrote was already written, and a black chassy is still being thought about for the final production. saying there is not much diffent is far for the truth. Next month I going to get buy and see for myself.

hype? well there was a lot of people very upset with the cheapness of the HK kits. So they produced a better xj version. its not really a hopped up version......... just inproved.

So what parts of the j verison will be manufactured in Japan?

usagi

the car is being produced for japanese market. Now if that true or not I ned to ask the dist here in Japan. From what i seeing Japanese version is producted here.

I have a feeling this is just a mini-x repackaged with the Japanese hop up kit. Similar to what the Canadians are doing with the mini-q. The basic kit will still be manufactured in Hong Kong.

If I'm wrong I'll buy us both one!!

(as long as you promise to mail me one when they come out) ;)

better yet read the other threads in this section about the mini-X(j). It might anwser your questen.........Happy reading :)

Believe me, its just not hype of repackaging of the mini-x. The car is not the popular, its just trying to get the word out. I first saw this car back in 2000 right after the mini-z came out.

excuse me, but I'm comparing the Mini-X holding in my hand against the pics here and cannot see any difference beside the different ESC/servo and the aforementioned hop-up parts.

And those pictures aren't clear enough for me to tell if there are any irregular 'bubbles' exist inside the transparent plastic parts like those I can find in mine. I think making the plastic black is a good idea cause at least we won't notice the low manufacturing quality of their plastic parts so easily. And I hope they need to be molded with much higher precision to reduce the hugh amount of gap in the moving parts.

Of couse, many things can be made much better with a higher development and manufacturing costs.

I just spoke with Xpress and they will be relesing a new radio set late this month. They are even producing their own transmitter! The ESC is not a ES-01 and they tell me the Mini XJ is no such car? Anywhey I have comfirmed from the manufacture they are producing new electronics so thats good new as they will have a case. But I sent them these photos and they said no such car? Oh well this XJ does look good!

whats the big deal? the price is right yes? The production is said to be better causing the product to have less breakage. So If the quility is better then in all right means its a better version. But I will not able to tell until I get a mini-xj in my hands new month. :)

There is no big deal. :)

My point is that there is nothing wrong with the Mini-X for sale in the US right now. The Xj is just the same car with a modified tie rod. People should not wait around for some new Xj version because it is the same car plus some ball links.

If you want the tie rod hop-up just go to your LHS and buy some Dubro ball links and some threaded rods and DIY.

The Mini-X is arguably the most advanced 1/24 RC car available. If you want it to progress you need to buy one and experiment with it and share your ideas, not wait around till a new version comes along.

The Xj is NOT a new version. If I'm wrong Usagi, I'll buy us both one! :D

"The Xj is just the same car with a modified tie rod. People should not wait around for some new Xj version because it is the same car plus some ball links"

Hum.....My whole point for posting this xj model was to info people that "WANT" to buy a mini-x. not not for those who have already have a mini-x car. I don`t understand why you have to continue to harp on this is not a new version? Some people that DON`T own the mini-x Might be thinking about buying the mini-x.
For all real time concerns this is a upgarded version with better part quility then that of the mini-x. But if its going to be sold other then Japan that I need to ask the distr here in Japan next month. It might be only for Japanese market...........

Usagi, I think we WANT the same thing. I want people to buy the Mini-X. :)

I don't want people to not buy one because they are waiting for a new version.

I'm going to guess that english is a second language for you. I'm sorry I don't speak Japanese. It may be that the language barrier is the problem.

I THINK THE MINI-X ROCKS! IT IS CHEAP! BUY ONE! DON'T WAIT FOR A Xj! IT IS THE SAME AS THE US VERSION! :D

How's that? :D

NO! I understand both Japanese and English.............

All I am doing here is showing a newer version of the mini-x.......If you don`t like it fine, but there are other that are from asia and have the ability to get the xj.

Usagi, I think you got me all wrong. If you can get a mini-xj, great!

What I'm saying is if the current version is available, don't wait for the Xj.

I think we just need to agree to disagree. :)

First, I can`t get ahold of a mini-x now. The only models out now our the mini-xj. Maybe thats how i should have explained it from my last post:)

Ohm

Yes, that explains it. I'm sorry I misunderstood. I didn't realize the mini-x was not yet easily available in Japan.

Keep us posted! :)

baleisen, just replace it with a stock Mini X speed controll. They are very inexspensive and rarley fail.
