Hmm.. a lesson... Thanks guys to start out with. Now with the lesson..
To start out with let me give you a backgroung of what tools I have this may turn off some of you.
1. nice airbrush.
2. extra hands (exacto tools) used to hold the body.
3. Couple paint brushes.
4. Thin masking tape .
5. Paint and thinner or reducer.
6. futura floor wax.
7. oh yea a exacto knife w/ fresh blades.
A. Mask the windows with some sort of tape I use Tamiya tape becuse its thin and is low tack. Most hobby shops will have that.
I did this on the outside of the body.
B. Paint the inside black or tint the inside like i did.
C. paint the outside with the color of choice first. I used black and I thined it ALOT and used a airbrush to apply. This gives me more control of the paint without making the paint to thick.
D. Apply the mask for the second color, again use the same tape tamiya tape because its thin. If you use normal tape it will create thick edges because of surface tension so use thin tape.
E. Again paint thin coats just enough to cover the area to thick a it won't look good if its to thick.
F. doing the details. I use tamiya paints just the normal acrilic paints. use a small tip brush but, not to small like a 5 zero or a 3 zero brush (again at the shop) just dab the lights real easy one dab at a time build it up dont try to get covered in one try mutiple coats.
G. Final pull all masks and the last trick is the clear coat. I use Futura floor wax two to three coats through a airbrush and that should do it. all finished.
Keep the questions comming guys. hope you stuff comes out killer.
was ist los?

1. What do you recommend for a good airbrush?
2. What ratio do you use in thinning the paint?
3. How many coats did you end up applying on the average? And how often?
Cans of testers enamel paint just doesn't seem to cut it for me... :(

A:
there are alot of good airbrushes out there...
this is a good link. choose what you buget can afford.
www.dixieart.com great prices. I use a iawata hp-c. runs about 150 bux.
B. the ratio is very important. For stuff this small i use a 50:50 or even less it gives the paint a more ink like viscosity (thinner lines) and thinner coats. problem with this is control to much paint to fast it will run like a cheetah.
C. the paint drys very quickly at this ratio. So do as many as it takes to cover the body or the color that its on top of. I run a pass all the way around and by the time I get back around where I started is dry enough to paint again BUT NO TO TOUCH.
