It's not that bad, it's just not as good as the really nice one that comes with the Mini-Z for example. You can replace it with any 27MHz AM, such as the Mini-Z Perfex.

Well, I'm not as forgiving as Tiny.
When I have the Epoch controller in my hand, I keep getting the feeling as if I had bought the car from a Radio Shack. A CHEAP car.
It's pretty lame for Epoch to package that controller with such a nice car. I could see if the price were cheaper they could use the excuse that they tried to keep prices down, but the fact that the Epoch Spec2 RTR (ready to run) kit cost only a LITTLE LESS than a MiniZ, completely blows that excuse out of the water.
All in all though, I still have NO PROBLEM recommending the Epoch Spec2. You start off with great car and a so-so controller and it's still FUN...Then you can upgrade the controller and now it's an EVEN BETTER car!

what about a futaba 27 mhz or sumthing lyke that
saw it in a tower hobbies magazine
Yeah I would be changing the transmitter if I get one of these cars, partly because they are cheap looking and partly because in England we don't use those types of transmitters, we use the other kind, where you have a throttle stick and a steering stick.

I used to prefer the dual stick contols, but once I got used to the gun, I much prefered it. But whatever floats your boat.

i would stick to the perfex mini-z transmitter..it works the best and allows the steering travel to be adjusted unlike the stock indoor controller..the perfex controller also allows the range to out further more..less antenna glitches..it aslo makes the epoch rc in general look more professional and more expensive..:D

Is is possible to buy one of those transmitters by itself? And if so, where?

Personally being in the RC car hobby for quite a few years, i have to say i hate the Perfex's feel. Sorry but this is MY personal opinion. I don't own a Mini-Z, but my friend does, and i just can't get over the feel. I like the either really big sizes or the heavy old school ones.
The epoch one is good enough for me, it has some flaws, but come on as long as you and your hand like it USE it. Why pay for another controller, unless of course you happen to have another.

i say the epoch's controller good, depending on you standard. i mean after using a DRR controller for so long the epochs seemed like a luxury. i got the miniz prefex today and know i know what you mean that things a beauty.
