This is my latest creation. I had to do some chassis adjustments to accomodate the C5 body. It drives like the real thing.

The usual. I use a Tekin FM mini recevier, a 180 motor, an es01, and a micro servo.

Thanks, TRC. You got me man.

I love the site already.

I drove the RX3 yesterday, and man, it was a lot of fun. I've never ran the ABC with a model body that I actually painted. It's really cool.

To those who have not yet gotten an ABC DTM SP or X4, you guys are missing out!

micromotori, do you find that the model body weighs the DTM down at all? For those who don't have one yet:

Not at all! It is actually perfect. I don't even have to use the body post. Instead, I made my own body mounts using velcro, and it is awesome!! I highly, very highly recommend the ABC DTM's to anybody. whether it's the X4 or the SP. Get both! Seriously! Before it's too late.

And the 56 mph car has the profinish body, and that body is even heavier. It does the job when needed. Protects the car during 15 - 20 foot barrell rolls (Only happens once in a while)

I must say, that that RX-3 is one of the nicest bodies I have seen on the DTM, My next R/C car is definatly going to be a SP(I"m ANTI-AWD:D) Right now I'm really into my M-03 and mini-z, so maybe in about 6-8 months I may get one maybe buy then they will be reall popular,HAHAHA :D

That sounds good Porscheguy. I give the ABC DTM SP the Highest recommendation to all micro RC lovers. It's very smooth, fast, and is durable.

No Servo pots to tinker with, no esc frying (in most most cases), the car only needs ball bearings and a 180 sized motor to be race ready.

Welcome to the party buddy! look forward to some contibutions from the motor guru himself on how to make the DTM's blinding fast!

I like the truck by the way.

It's happened to me, because of my experimentations. I guess to achieve something, there should no limit. That is why I use ESC's with NOMOTORLIMIT:D I must add too, that the ABC's and other 1/24 th scale RCs don't require the use of Turbo. hehe

Hey, MicroRCEngineering Would you want to sell one?

* Will the orion esc (from the micro rs4) work well with this car? What size servo would I use? Hs 81size? Or smaller...thanks

Kevin,

Check out eBay right now. There's one up for auction with carbon fiber. Or contact TinyRC.com for a Brand New SP. At the moment, I'm not selling any of my ABC's, unless someone likes a particular custom model body to be fitted on an ABC chassis. Using car model bodies may pose a challenge in making it fit, but once it's done, it looks nice.

What is that #6 car in the backgroung on page one? Fiat? I have 3 DTM X4 and what a awsome car.I just received an SP from Tiny RC and cant wait to assemble it. Any tips durring assembley?

MicroRCEngineering
07-09-2002, 12:32 AM
The number 6 car is a Kyosho Autoscale, waiting to be devirginized.

Tips & Tricks with a hippy, hippy hips: Take your time, Make sure to use thread locks on the front suspension, or whenever you are screwing to a metal piece, like the rear motor mount. Get yourself a 180 right away. Don't even bother with the 130 motor. It's slow. Use airtronics ES-01 or Orion Flash ESC, Servo: Any micro servo will work, but can't be any bigger than an HS81. Body: It's best to do the holes before painting. Battery Cover: Drill holes while on top of chassis, just enough to mark it.

say no to drugs, and don't terrorize the house pets with these micro rc's. Word!!

What body is it? I just started assembly and this is a great car! I will be using the Mini X electronics and the 180 motor. Thanks for the tips.

MicroRCEngineering
07-18-2002, 03:11 PM
The Mini X electronics is fine if you don't have enough room to open up the throttle. But you will need at least an airtronics es-01 if you plan to use the 180 motor.

IM running the X electronics in all my ABC cars with 180 motors and my RS4 with the stock motor (180) and have had great success.

kev71H
07-18-2002, 09:08 PM
So............................You can use the X cars electronics even in a micro rs4????? sure??? How long have you been running it with the X electronics?? do tell..

Kevin

IM running the 6 cell orion battery in the car and have only ran a few packs through it. IM using a Hi tech mini servo because no servo horns in the RS4 kit would fit the Mini X servo?

and maybe you should shrink rap the electronics or cover them up could be dangerous

You know... I put an HPI receiver from my Micro onto the used DTM that I have (already had an ESC, a Micro RS4 stock motor and a micro servo on it) and WOW! I couldn't fit the body over the top of it (it sucked anyway), but the car TOOK OFF across the garage floor -- on a STOCK micro motor!!! TOO KEWL! I really like the "possibilities" with this car. I'm pretty "retentive" about things, so I'll probably have to order a NEW ONE to be satisfied with things. Why I bought USED boggles my mind.

Thanks for the pics, input, and TEMPTATION, guys. My wife HATES all of you! LOL. My son LOVES it, though!

Shrink wrap is a good idea and I think the DBL sided tape would hold better on the shrink wrap. I find some sets can twitch but I have found that curling the servo wire will fix it? It was a suggestion from my local hobby shop. I had to use a servo wire extension on the SP because the Mini X servo has a very short wire,

The Thunderer,

I'm glad you saw the ABC's potential. With your set-up, it's pretty fast already. Just imagine multiplying that speed at least 3 to 4 times.

Try using the ES-01 to save space. Also, Shredder made by Hitec come in 27 mhz (It's what I use for my modded mini z, and stock ABC) If you have an M8, that receiver, fits perfect behind the servo, between the battery cover and the servo.

07-24-2002, 09:24 PM
so with a stock micro motor.. and and orion 6 pack.. how fast are we looking for the abc to be running?

The Thunderer
07-24-2002, 09:43 PM
I can't give you an exact MPH, but if you want me to guess, I'd say about 25-30 mph. It is MUCH faster than a stock Z and WAY faster than a stock micro. What do you think NML? Would you say that a DTM on this kinda setup (w/out the body and laden down with non-micro electronics) would go about that fast? I wish I had a radar gun!!! LOL.

I guess the speed comes from a SMALL body and a motor that is just too big for that size... and I know that folks use more powerful motors than the stock Micro motor.

Anyway, this is all a guesstimate so that's what I have! :D

The Thunderer, why aren't you using that nice little M8 Rx ?!

LOL.. TinyRC. You know just about EVERYTHING I'VE GOT!!! To answer your question... its on my Micro! LOL. I was just testing out the equipment and figured I could put the HPI (GIGANTO) receiver on the top and get it to run. It worked!!! The body that I bought with this USED DTM SP really REEKS anyway and the body posting holes were punched off center so one wheel rubs against the wheel well and the other is WAY INSIDE the car (I didn't do the punching). I'm probably going to buy a DTM here as soon as I'm satisfied with my Micros. I'll also need the PARTS to maintain them (hint, hint). When are the parts going to be available? This is the part that made me buy the Micro's first. I wanted to be sure that I bought something I could easily get parts to. I'm looking for the sponge tires, newer rims, etc. so that I can upgrade the used one and maintain the new one that will be ordered within the next two months.

The Thunderer, thanks for asking, we're currently working on this. We were sourcing the ABCs domestically, but we have found a cheaper overseas source, who will will also be getting parts from.

The Thunderer

I didn't have a body shell on it, but they're pretty quick! I don't know an exact MPH, but they really fly... and mine was stock!

The ABC models are ok, but for some or should i say many they are problems. Broken parts, etc etc etc..........I look at this way for a mini style car I eel they ok like just the tripmate and mini-z........
I owned a few mini-zs a tripmate a puchu maru and I not really happy about the part quility of the ABC cars. True they building them better, but still you better have a good supplier of parts.

I was putting the (**) in there because "I" don't make too many comments on here..and I wanted to refer to your coment since I can see your very into the mini-car stuff.

Your understanding of my last comment was incorrect. so, my appologies for the misunderstanding. I love to read about this mini-stuff and wanted to put my "little" 2 cents in.

Best regards.

I am into racing mini-z F-1 pretty big here. I even have a lexan body (Mercedes CLK) for my F-1 Its has all mods but turbo. So far..I haven't a need for the turbo yet.

We are going to have the largest mini-z track in the usa. (we think)

  That thing was like a rocket. I gotta get one of these some day. The bodies look real nice aswell. How much would it take to get it up to that kind of speed? I think I might have already asked this, but does anyone have any idea of the stock speed of these little cars? How big are these compared to the Mini-z? How do these compare to the Mini-x?

I am not a big fan of these cars, but I know I will want one to add to my collection after the Sonic Yokomo hits the market!

tinyrc

Bez, they are bigger and faster than Mini-Zs, and closer in size to the Mini-X (100-115mm vs. 103mm).

Usagi,

The ABC's are not that bad at all. I've been running mine since 2000 and the only time i ever broke parts is when I lose control (full speed 50 mph range) and suddenly hit a gutter or something. Other than that, on a regular track or set-up, it's GREAT!
