Anybody scratch built a 1/43 yet?

I found an article on how to make a simple ESC here: Simple ESC (http://members.tripod.com/~TrEbOr69/speedcnt.html)

Having flown airplanes for many years I had some micro servos available for steering and one to canabalize for the ESC.

I am using tub/motor/gearbox off of one of my microsizers and am using it to power the wheels.

I am using four of the 1.5 nicads to power the reciever and motor. The 3.0 motor really hums with 4.8 volts.

The RC gear is from one of my aircraft radios. I have a 'smallish' receiver that I am using. If it all works then I will invest in a cheap AM pistol and a micro receiver.

Now I know some of you will note that this will not have a diff but lets see how it works anyway.

Sooo.....anyone done this yet.

Good innovation but there is already a 1/43rd scale racer, the Epoch.

I doubt a 3.0 from a bit even with the 4.8v will have the torque and speed of the Epoch.

Also you didnt mention how you plan to steer this thought...

Because those dinky bit coils will never work

I think it's a great idea, I know I sure as heck don't want to shell out $100 for an epoch. I've been toying with a few ideas, I have a crapload of old R/C stuff laying around. this ELC link looks like it's worth a try.
