You mean extende the range of the IR gun? You don't! Unless you have a lot of electronics knowledge, SMD soldering skills etc. you are better off leaving it as it is. Just use a smaller battleground.

If you want more range buy a Tamiya Tiger tank with the IR battle system.

Well I was thinking about puting the the blast emiter at the front of the barrel to make shoot like a long range shotgun.

You mean put the LED at the end of the barrel? You would only be extending your range by approximately 1 inch. In addition there would be 2 wires trailing back into the the little hole in the turret. It would be a lot of work to accomplish very little, and it would look worse. It's very likely that the IR LED that they used has a very narrow focus and that even if it was extended outside the body to try to let more of the IR beam hit the target, it would probably not make a noticeable difference.

If someone would like to see what the IR beam actually looks like they could take their tank and turn it on then turn off all the lights and look through a video camera at the tank while you shoot. Video cameras are sensitive to infrared light. So are digital cameras.

For those who know what they're doing the turret IR could probably be swapped with another with a very wide focus like 50-60 degrees. The dome of the LED would have to extend outside the hole of the turret though. It could be possible to shoot and hit every tank in front of you at the same time.

I read somewhere that the range is 10 degrees on the firing. The controller has a 60 degree range, so I assume Panzer, that you are right and a simple chip change can increase range. I dont think taking the turret of will give the effect desired by some here, I doubt it would change at all the firing radius. My question is why would you want to change the targeting sysytem? I have been very very happy with the targeting systems on the combat digi's, and as a matter of fact I usually brag that part up the most to my friends. It seems to me that konami worked very hard to get the balance of gameplay with these little tanks to an ultimate level and short of figuring out how to remote turn the turrett I doubt I will ever even think of modding mine. Besides, in my house there already is an additional challenge to the war! (as seen below)
