i was wondering if a es-01 could handle a stock mini x with a 6 cell or would it burn up? anyone run the mini x with an es-01? thanks.

It will handle 4-cell okay, but I'm not sure I'd want to risk 6-cell. Technically it should be able to, but the ES-01 is infamous for it's magic smoke-letting abilities.

why not buy the Mini-X electronics, it handles the 6 cell pack without any problem at all.

I had an ES-01 on mine. Ran it with 5 cells for a while (suprisingly a few weeks actually) and one day it just went up in smoke on me. Speaking of which, is the stock ESC any good? I've heard people having problems setting up. Do they come with connectors? I am using it with a Shredder Rx.

The new version 2,0 ESC is quite good so far up to 6 cells with no heat. I didnt have any set up problems, and the people who do tend to use the Perflex controller that comes with the Mini-Z.
There are no connectors on any of the motor/battery wires, you have to solder the wires in place.
The Rx connector should be installed though.
