At the track i race at we have a large range of skill levels, some only a few weeks in r/c at all and others that used to compete in national events in 1/10 and 1/12 scale.

This isn't exactly fair and makes it so there is very little compitition so we have a little odds balancer.

If you win you add 3 nickels to the car as ballast. 2nd place gets 2 nickles and 3rd doesn't add or subtract anything. If you place 4th or lower you can remove 1 of your nickels (if you have any).

What this has done for us is even things out, giving us (not counting technical difficulties) about a 8 lap spread between 1st and last place in a 10 minute heat.

Now the speed goes to the newbie drivers (like me) and forces the more experienced drivers to really pay attention and drive.

The Experienced drivers still have the advantage but its close enough now to keep thing interesting for everyone

Hey, that's very cool! Are there rules about where the nickels must go?

Place em where you want em. The series leader has about 12 on his so don't even try to bump him out ot the way. Someone like me (newbie) with no weights whatsoeverjust can't push him out of the way.

but its great watching him try to get up to speed. hehehe
