I can see how tiny rc doesnt want you to buy those. they are affiliated w/ miniz.com. Anyway those ones on e-bay dont have proportional steering or throttle, but all of the stuff works w/ miniz parts and options. Horrid suspesion, nofront shocks at all.
that causes problems.

you were ripped off.... u were scammed.... buy or test drive a REAL Mini-Z and you'll see many differences. HeiPao cars are not proportional...
screw the speed upgrade, I doubt those cheap clones can go as fast as the real thing...

So you guys are saying that Palm Runner and HeiPao clones are NOT proportional steering/throttle cars? Are they upgradable to propo?
If not I'll just stick to my BitCharG/MS stuff for a while longer. :(

there are only two things wrong with mine it isnt proportional and no front suspension but my friend told me that all u have to do to get it to hve afront suspension is to get the top peice of the front that holds the wheels in place replaced with one from koyosho ill do that as soon as i buy one its like 7$

I just got one of the Palm-Runners off ebay in the mail today.
Thunder-Mars. Made my HeiPao. Non-propo. No front syspension. The diff is notchy (probably a sprue they didn't clean up). The tires are harder to make hook than you'd believe. The remote is uncomfortable. The steering wheel has about half an inch of travel, with 3/8" being dead-zone, the throttle has more dead zone going forward than it does reverse. The foam wheel cover on the transmitter is loose, so it needs glued. The battery sticker in the transmitter is incorrect if you follow the battery pic (it has + and - drawn backwards) And it's in a bizarre freq. (45 mhz) so I can't tell if it could be propo if the transmiter was better.
But, for the price it's pretty cool. It's a little slow for my tastes. But with the amount of wheel-hop it gets.... And on hardwood and linoleum, you can drift it pretty well. Turning radius is a little large for my tastes as well.
I'd say if you absolutely need to get one of these low-end clones, go for the ones with mini-z style tx.

Aren't the actual Palm-Runners made by Kyosho as a cheaper Mini-Z alternative? I remember them from about a year ago, and there is a Kyosho info page for them. Made to fit the Z bodies and wheels/tires and stuff, but be less expensive.

So, you're saying I actually bought a clone of the low-end version Kyosho sells to people too cheap to buy a real Mini-Z?
Hahahahaha, yeah that sounds about right for my normal luck... :)
Oh well, the price was good, and now I have a nice test-bed to hack and mangle. :D

those mini z clone suck i should know cause i have one. it does not have prop steering the knobs on the controller does not work it is there for cosmetic purpose but there is a good point to those clone i can do stuff to it that i would never do to my mini z , all the hop ups fit ,i tried them , the power sucks so i installed ,temporarly a turbo to it an extra battery compartment ,radio shack , slot car drag wheels in the rear ,foam deep dish , hit the throttle smack it at high speed in to my wall l, got damn that car moved, purchased another one trying to come up with another idea to destroy it .:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Palm runner cars are basically the same as mini-z cars...except they run on two AA batteries instead of four...and the controller isn't as good... but the car IS proportional (throttle and steering)
"You'll be amazed at the authentic display-quality exterior detail of these palm-sized 5" long (scale: 1/28) Palm Runner. Their true-scale bodies feature such fine touches as headlights, rear wings and decals for accurate markings. Inside, high-tech engineering produces exceptionally realistic performance -- with forward and reverse two-wheel drive, fully proportional steering, sophisticated suspension action, real car-like acceleration, braking, and more.
Each Palm Runner comes factory-built and complete with everything you'll need for operation (except alkaline batteries). There's nothing to glue or paint. The electronics and radio equipment -- including a 2-channel transmitter, high-frequency speed control and special miniature servo -- is all so well-designed that it's simple to use and maintain. Display them...drive them...set up a course using the cones and speed bumps and race against another Palm Runner. In an area as compact as 3' x 6' (floor or tabletop), you can enjoy a thrilling contest with up to 2 models competing at once (ID 2 & ID 4 bandwidths).
Ships complete with pre-built chassis, they share the same pre-painted bodies as the Mini-Z Racer. A 2-channel wheel-type transmitter is also included. Each sturdy car features genuine front & rear suspension. When not in use, they look great just sitting atop a PC. If your other car is really a Porsches or Viper, now's your chance to boast about it.
Requires: 2 x "AA" alkaline batteries for the car, 1 x 9V battery for the radio transmitter (neither included). Length: Up to 12.5cm / Width: 6.5cm / Height: 3.8cm / Weight (chassis): 170g / Weight (transmitter): 160g."

clones are junk pure and simple...
The only reason they exist is to truck ppl into thinking its a mini-z only recently are they now ADMITING its not a mini-z on the auctions, in the beggining the box was very poor copy of the Mini-Z box.. very obvious they wre out to screw ppl.. it cost them about 1$ to make and box the entire thing... they are only now changing their ways, cuz no one is buying the pieces of crap.
they are NOT mini-Z.. in any way shape or form... even the bodies are TRASH.
The hei poa is 10x worse then the takaros, the takaros is 10x worse then the palm runner, and the palm runner is only 1/10th of the car the Mini-Z is...
Do not give these clone makers your money... they are breaking laws making these products.

The palm runner DOES NOT HAVE PROPORTIONAL CONTROL. it is a cheap version of the mini z with none of the features.

I saw those things. They are gonna' make me puke! Heipao?! What kind of name is that? Doesn't matter, those things aren't good. How could anyone defend them? So they look like Mini-Zs. So what? Some kids tell me I look like Steven Tyler. To tell the truth, I have no clue what he looks like, but even if I do, I don't sing like him! Those things clearly aren't good, if they were, they wouldn't copy Kyosho.

there are a lot of cheap ripoffs out there but the bottom line here is that if you want quality (you don't want to pay though your teeth) you have to do your homework
check out auldeys new mini-z ... it has full proprtional steering and throttle and looks a lot like kyosho's mini-z but has a larger body and use AA batteries ... retails for about $40 on carmoworld.com ... not bad for a fully proportional car (proportional control not size) ... and auldey quality and durability is quite good (better than the cheap knockoffs but below kyosho mini-z's) ... haven't got one yet but i've heard good things

not to rain on your parade, but i doubt you cold get a true kyosho mini-z for 9.99. it may not be a heipao, but that doesn't make it a kyosho. there are other clones as well.
post the ebay link and i'm sure we'll be able to tell you one way or the other.
maybe you can get out of the deal.

Pretty sweet! Did you have a hard time with the front brake discs? I did.
i got one for an expirement on structural integrity on those pos's in plain english that means how long it took me to destroy it
well i had my overland fitted with a rather heavy metal body so i used it like a hammer with the ol batts fully charged i set the unsuspecting(doomed) clone up for a tbone got p to full speed with ol and buried the nose in the heish!t with no probs the metal body went right thru the crap body on the clone what stopped it was the batterys and the curcuit board however it was immobilized permantly with pcb damage wasted diff totaled merc body steering magnet pack written off and a pankaked chassis many hits were taken but all it took to kill it was one full speed hit running a 11t pinon on x-speed motor in the door on the pos body im guessing around 7mph give or take with 2lbs behind it there is proof that they are pos's i spent total 140 bux on this xperiment 135 on the ol and body 5 on the clone the clone now sits peicefully on the side of i40 near nashville maybe i should see how it likes being crushed by a 7.1lb nitro monster truck but ill need a new clone
