Check THIS (http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-Bingo/9499/page042.html) page out for some pics of the Maru (aka Petit Maru).
There's also a Video of the Maru in action HERE (http://yokomousa.com/newproducts/movies/Putimaru.mpeg)

It's weird that yokomo has started making mini and micro cars because yokomo has been a full 1/10 onroad, 1/12 onroad, and 1/10 offroad race manufacturer.

I agree, even if they were just going after just the Mini-Z market, it would be an interesting departure, but that they are doing a BC-G killer too is just too cool. Both of these products look like they will be the absolute top of the line in their respective classes.

What are the chances of a slot car body fitting on these cars?
It would be great if they did.

What is the wheelbase on a slot car? These are 48mm.
Rrickatic
08-01-2002, 11:08 PM
Thats a good question. I really don't know.

I suck at metric system but it looks to be 1 1/2" from center of wheel base.
tinyrc
08-01-2002, 11:20 PM
25.4mm = 1", so 48mm = 1.89".

I am going to get one. And dinball lowered their price to $65 and change, plus $13+ for shipping.
Should I wait for tinyrc to get them?

anybody have some pics of the motor for the puchi maru?
as well...does it have any sort of suspension?
i'm thinking....the internal looks somewhat
like the mini-z PCB......perhaps you can upgrade the fets on
the puchi maru and give it a turbo ;)
that and maybe upgrading the batteries to some li-ion type ;)
dgilpin

The motor is covered up pretty good, but I'll take a picture next time I am in there. Similar to a Bit Char-G, but a little shorter.
Absolutely no suspension.
The circuit board is actually a little bigger than a mini-z board. I can't pick out the FETs like you can on the mini-z. Must be a different type.
Don't know of any li-ions small enough to fit. I get 6-7 minutes of fast running out of a 90 second quick charge with the stock 120mah NiMH cells.
Basically, I am not doing any mods until I can get replacement parts!
usagi
09-05-2002, 11:21 PM
Well so far we have not gotten any hint that yoko will release options of replacement parts. I do have some pictures I got of my puchimaru taken apart. I get them up as soon as I can. As is, I have to reason to upgrade any part of the car. Happy as a clam:D

I am looking for some softer tires. Any ideas? I suppose a fabric surface on the track might be better anyway.
I saw two places describe them as having gear diffs, but both of my Vitz have adjustable ball diffs! Did they change that?
The only mod I might do is to put in 150mah cells, since I already have some.
Dgilpin,
You should wait for TRC to get them in. IM sure TRC can get close to the Dinball price?$78 from Dinball and a wail and wounder dosent sound that great. I know Yokomo USA is releasing a press release soon on both micro cars so TRC should have them in stock soon?

IRC, try around the oct for yokomo to release the press release. The sonic I am hopeing is relased by mid oct. As for the puchi well they are still having problems with shipments? But they are worth the wait in the usa:)I love my Puchi:)
Usagi,
Thanks for the info. I have one to and it is a very cool car! I can't wait to gat the 1/27 car and put my mini Z bodies to good use. I have been trying to find some good race decals to dress up my Puchi van?:D

Yeah I can't wait for the mini XJ so I can order 50 of them:D I wish you would fill us in a little more on this car as I have contacted Xpress twice about it and even sent them your photos and they tell me no such car is being built:( I do know Xpress is working on some electronics updates but that is all they have told me. Through me a bone and give me some more information about this.

There is a better video up at:

I also noticed that one page says they have gear diffs, and another (newer) page says they have ball diffs! I think they must have changed to the ball diffs recently - anyone have better intel?

Thinking of getting one but before I do I think I'd like to see the new Mauru body pics incase I prefer them..... so.... still sitting (LOL!!!)
usagi
11-19-2002, 05:38 PM

Are you sure about toyeast?
I already checked at toyeast and I found a Yokomo link under the R/C session.
Unfortunately if you click to that link it goes to an empty list.:(
