warpedkid7, you need the Car Kit e.g.:

http://www.tinyrc.com/shop/product.php?pid=231

a transmitter:

a charger:

and paint for the body. Please let us know if you have any other questions, or email shop@tinyrc.com for a custom package. :)

I got some paint from Warhammer 40k, do you think it will work? thanks. by the way, are the mini x the same as mini z?

The mini-x and mini-z are nothing alike.

Mini-z...
1/28th scale
2 wheel drive
requires super smooth grippy track

Mini-X...
1/24th scale (plastic model bodies can fit with a bit of tweaking)
4 wheel drive with independant suspension!
runs great on smooth concrete, hard wood floors, tile, carpet
if you buy from tinyrc.com you get bearings on the RTR version!

BTW: bearings are a MUST have.

The mini-z is slower than the mini-X stock. there are however many upgrades for the mini-z and fewer (read very little) for the mini-x. From reports many people find the mini-z can not typically compete with the mini-X on the same course.

I have driven both...and It takes about $200 in mods on a mini-z (according to my friends set up) to beat my totally stock mini-X on his "track" (super smooth painted, kinda slick, plywood track surface).

I hate to paint the bodies...but my fiance` is going to try the new beetle one, while I'll try the RX-7. Any paint seems to work...krylon or good model hobby store paints. Just paint it like any lexan bodies...from the inside.

So i should stick to mini-x then. are there lots of aftermarket bodys? oh and thanks every one for helping me out.

Tinyrc, what type of body does the kit come with?

You can get a bunch of bodies with the kit RTR or basic.

B = Beetle (new)
R = Rx-7
N = NSX
C = Corolla (more like a rally subaru to me)
S = Subaru WRX

You can use many 1/24th scale plastic models, especially Tamiya and Fujimi (with slight mods to either the car or body).

I did a New Beatle body. It painted up really easily. However the masking tape was only approximate. You would have to really care (and I dont) to see a difference. Use R/C car body paint. It is the easiest stuff to use. Just remember that you are painting from the inside so details are done first. Dark colors first.
