I just bought a couple desktop rovers for the lazer tag feature they have. then I was looking for a website about them and I found this forum and found out about the Digi Combat tanks. they look so cool. so as soon as I get the cameras for my rovers I'm gonna make an investment in the Digi tanks.

a few questions though, I think I read that you control them via IR from the controller, doesn't IR need a line of sight to work? have you guys had any problems with it?

also I read that they have different types of games you can play with them, can you folks tell me what the games are and how they're played?

Thank you...

so you would be able to drive under a tunnel or something without any problems?

what about range? how far away can you be and still be able to effectivly operate them?

I can't find any good English web sites that has much info on these things...

IR is "line-of-sight" but it is a light signal being sent. Light can be reflected.

Most TV remotes work on exactly to same principle.
Take your TV remote and point it at the ceiling, it will likely still work, and may even work if you point it at the opposite wall (If it is powerful enough, like many 4-cell programable remotes).

This works best if you are in a room with light colored or white walls, and also a dimly lir room may help minized interferance.

I can't get you any specifics about the tanks since I don't have one (which is REALLY too bad), but should be the same thing.
