View Full Version : small info on my Racewin...
uhh..its pretty stock..haha
i have an impreza 1:16....and i took off all the stickers so it looks clean...
it has umm....stock motor, stock tires/rims...stock suspension...
the reason is...its HARD to find parts for it in the united states...or just english websites...
the only mod i have done is i have added 2 more batteries to the turbo function so that it uses 4 batteries for turbo and 5 for standard speed....btw..it uses 7 batteries normally....but now i have 9 ....i might add en extra one just for the little extra boost
ive tried to lighten the chassis some....because it so THICK!!!
i cut some squares and sanded some parts down..still needs more work...the batteries and the motor itself are the heaviest parts...
at the moment im trying to lighten my body...i cut out the front grille where the intercooler is, and i cut out the lower part where the liscense plate goes.....im going to cut out the windows...and probably make a new spoiler or take one from another RC...
well thats bout it..
does anyone know if its possible to use other rims from rc cars like the tamiyas and such? i just want some nice looking dubs :D
oh god, i hit a rock and that sucker like ...JUMPED!! rally style
this car is too darn low for stock..my racewin sits less than a centimeter from the floor!..looks real good, but not for bumpy roads
i will go to the hobby store today, and see if i can find some inch and half or 2" aluminum or plastic racing rims with tires...and then i will have dubs and higher ride height
lets see...
i drilled some holes in the bottom of the motor casing, and the front steering motor casing...the reason is so that there is more airflow ..and so the engines dont heat up in long runs...and it was a PAIN to put the rear motor casing back together..i swear i spend 30+minutes...and im an idiot cuz i put the idle gear in backwards 10x
another strange mod i did was wrap masking tape over the rear wheels so that i could lose traction and semi drift/powerslide...it did help when playing inside on tile.but on concrete, you have to force your car to oversteer by pushing turbo-steer-and countersteer...it did make tighter turns...but the tape got eaten up by the street...
and yet another SUPER mod i did was put a thin rubber band around and over the steering knuckles...the reason is....the stock car itself has crappy steering...and the steering spring does absolutly nothing...i took it out, and the hole creates an air vent :D..anyways..normally my car NEVER goes straight...when u press turn, it will stay in that direction untill u press the opposite. the front tires do not go back in the centered position...and by adding the rubberband in, and making it go over the steering motor casing...it actually makes the wheels become centered again after you press turn. the most useful handling mod you could ever do.
also last kool thing i did was add REAL 555 decals to my impreza body..just some left over decals from my tamiya models....now it looks better :D
next mod is to add large leds in place of the fog lights...but i accidently bought red ones, instead of white..arg...stupid cardboard backing didnt say the color of the led, so i suggested it was white because it was clear.

First, how long have you had the 1/16th? You get it from asia or US re-seller?
Good to hear of US modifiers. This is one of the reasons I'm looking to get an Auldey. Cheap Mods.
Also, On 9turbo (http://www.9turbo.com/en/) there is a review of a new QD (Qua Dia ?) 1/10 car which had factory equipped front and reat LED. It was a nice touch. I looked all over and couldn't find anything about 1/10 Auldey or QD for sale. The circuit boards on QD looked very primitive (ie simple) but thats fine if you' re like me and more dangerous with a sodder iron than a help. I will email 9turbo and see what gives as far as price etc... It's not Tiny RC but still auldey related.

actually i bought mine off of ebay, lucky enough to find a 1:16 because all i see are race tins...ive only had mine for a couple weeks really..but ive been using it more than my bit charg haha
im not a fan of buying stuff from out of america...so im kind of limited to upgrades for now, unless i use parts from other cars haha
hopefully tinyrc will have parts for the racetin and the racewin...
i think im about to order a racetin..
heh no one here has heard of Auldey....but they are super popular in thailand and china...because its made over there, and its a chinese company...or something...oh wells
oh yeah, i added fat orange leds connected to the battery and with a separate switch, but the brightness wasnt that bright...barely noticable for high bright leds.... ;/..so i took it out..no fun...i wanted to play in the street at night

Yeah, Auldey is located in Guangdong China. I've been doing research on the company - looking for more resellers actually - and they have a huge range of products. The problem is that many asian toys are sold under several names and brands. Or different companies produce the same cars with slight differences. Strange and troubling when tracking down crap vs quality.
Gttoys.com (http://www.gttoys.com/en/index.asp) is another comapny which appears to make both tin racers and QD or Quick Drive 1/10 scale.
globalsources (http://www.gifts.globalsources.com/MAGAZINE/GT/0211/RADIOTOYCH.HTM) has a blurp on Auldey company. This site has links to specific companies and offers to contact them regarding shipping samples to potential resellers.
If nothing else, it's an interesting look into how china and asia works economically.

lets see....today i added a mesh grille after i took the whole plastic part out...i have no idea what this material is, i found some left over when my sister was wrapping presents, so i think its supposed to be a bow. its phat, and it doesnt come apart.
today i also removed/sanded off the rear spoiler to my Impreza...and at the moment, im in the process of making a custom GT style spoiler out of plastic, and the "tree" parts from models. it has a nice thickness to the rods....but doing the criss cross pattern will be difficult....
im not sure if im going to actually add this to my car,...im still wanting to go the the hobby store, and see if they have a nice wing already made, if there is even something like that
next, im going to add tow hooks, one on the front, and one on the back [ive already have made them, but not painted and glued on yet],
then im gonna add... umm im not sure what u call them, its those hooks on your hood if you have a CF hood.
and also another small add on, will be "fins" to the front bumper...
well anyways, im going to make my car pretty much look like this in the end....maybe without all the decals though...
oks...just to let you guys know, 26mm (2"inch) rims will NOT FIT on 1/16!!
arg..piss me off..i go to the store, pick me up some NICE looking black HPI rims for $12 for my 1/16 and they are too big...darn..
now i have to go return them...luckily i didnt open them..
next time, im bringing my car in to compare..
i need some larger MiniZ rims then....but im not sure if that store had them...
anyone knows what RC car out there uses 1" 1/2half rims?
oks....i skrewed up my impreza body last night..
normally when spray painting models, i sometimes dont use primer....but time i wish i had....
i didnt have any more primer at the time, so i was like oh wells..let do this... :D
and so i spray spray spray...2-4 coats of Tamiya white...
and i noticed that the paint kept sliding off...and im like arg.....
and im not going to bother to take all the paint off...waste of time....and now its just ugly...maan..
TINY I NEED NEW A NEW BODY!!!! :D

oks class this weeks project, will be a custom rims.
i have sleek gunmetal MicroRs4 rims, and they are almost exactly the same diameter as the originals, only a 2-3 mm difference, and the tires will fit if i put a flat-wide rubber band around it...
since i dont have the micro rs4 rear differential, ill just drill holes in the rims, and skrew them on with the bolt that comes with the auldey 1/16
ill tell u how it goes
oks, since the rims are super hard to take off on the original auldey diif, ill have to buy a HPI rear diff, and then modify my motor alignment....
this project car is almost becoming 100% custom :D
i might as well use an fast HPI motor, since they are pretty cheap, around $10, and also i might use their gearing system also.
ill have to see if their front knuckles will fit on the chassis too.
