Hi i am new to bit racing but have gotten in deep very fast. I am up to six bit char-g cars all of which are modified in some way and uncountable number of up grades such as gear sets Bit Char-g Gears and Bit-Racer Gears. I have eight extra motors not counting the ones in my cars. I love this hobby. I have some pictures of my cars, modified turbo controler, and bit storage box. Not high quality pictures but they are linked below. What do you think do I deserve a title like bitfreak or should I change it.
P.S.-The S2000 is a friends, I don't yet have pictures of my newest 3 cars. My list is as follows: Lancer Evo, NSX-R, Skyline Booster Car, RX-7, Another booster car with a WRX body kit.

how do you get your antenna wires to twist? i tried it with my rx-7 and i couldnt get it to stay.

The antenna wires are a very easy mod if done right. I haven't received a range increase (but it is hard to judge, because with my new controler antenna my range is up to like 40-50 ft). To get the antenna wires twisted correctly you must unsolder the existing antenna, or cut it off very very close to the board. Once you have the antenna off just take your other antenna wire (needs to be a little heavier gauge wire available at www.questformadness.com and twist the two together very tightly. Expose a little of the copper core at the bottom of each antenna and make sure the exposed ends get twisted together good. Put a droplet of solder onto the twisted and exposed ends of the antenna. Now take the antenna and attach it back to the board in the same place it came out, becareful not to let the solder run anywhere else. Wa-La cool twisted dual color antenna.
I have these on all of my cars, I love this mod and it isn't too hard to do.

Is that 40-50ft with the 4 channel? Wow!!! :D

Yes that is correct I have a 4 channel controller that I modified with a new extendable antenna. The antenna that I used is like 39" long when fully extended (it looks cool like an antenna for a big R/C Car) I swiped the antenna from a pair of TV antenna bunny ears that I got at Walmart for 9 bucks and I got Two antennas the other on is on one of my standard controllers it improved reception alot on that controller about 25-30 feet) but not as good as my 4 channel.
Note: My 40-50 feet of range in in a nice open area ( my basement). Upstairs with the TV on cordless phones and othe interferance the range goes down to about 30 feet but I think that is still pretty good. Sofar this has been my favorite mod and the most useful. I can drive until I can barely see the car (very cooool) :D

bit freak, that's amazing! how did you attach the antenna to the 4-band? i'm happy for you, there is not a person here that wouldn't like to get 40-50 ft. range. drive on buddy!

Viper the antenna is atached using a plastic mounting plate that I cut so that it wedges in between two of the spacer posts in backing plate of the controller. This plate has a mounting hole in it and the premanant part of the antenna is attached to that via a screw. Once the two sides of the case are together it holds the mounting plate and the antenna firmly and it looks like factory. I like it very much.

Hi BitFreak,
Very nice work on your stuff. I hope to be emulating some of it very soon. What kind of soldering set-up do you have? Anything special, or just garden variety?
bitfreak

Nothing really special, but my soldering iron is a little different. I went to radio shack and bought it, it is standard except the tip tapers like sharpened pencil to a sharp tip. It was like 7 bucks at radio shack. Then just make sure that you get some good electronics solder available anywhere. Goodluck!:D

Hey Bitfreak... I was wondering if you could show some pictures with what you did to your 4 way controller to get that kind of range???
Thanks

Bluff,
I don't have any pics of the mod right now, no digital camera of my own. I will do my best to try to post some pics when I can. Keep your eye out for my friends and I's new web sight that we are working on. It is not ready yet but we are working on it, the URL will be www.sonofabit.com. We will try to post complete descriptions of all of our mods there.:D
