Hello there. Last year when I was heavily racing the Mini-Z's, I had purchased a few of Atomic's protection boxes for them and I liked having them a lot. They were very useful for carrying your cars to your club's racing track.
I just e-mailed Atomic to ask them if they'd make the same thing for the Dnano's. Who knows what they'll do.
So, I thought about looking into making my own. Shouldn't be too hard to do.
Who else would be interested in a special protection box for their Dnano's?
Think it's something to look into? Would you buy one?
I'll be heading to my local shipping store tomorrow and see if they have the right sized box for it and go from there.

i'm sure some will buy them but a waste of cardboard for me. i already have a travel pit box that carries everything i need. more boxes would just be more boxes.
i could have sworn there was a kyosho aluminum breif case for the dnano that i saw on some japanese site. that seems like a better investment as you can carry the car, tx and parts, etc.

I think I saw something like that too but can't remember when/where and exactly what it was for. It would be nice to have an all in one box. I also have a pit box that the Dnano's fit snugly in the top shelf, but I still like the idea of the protection boxes. I found the ones for the Mini-Z very useful especially when it all fit nicely inside my pit box and protected the cars a lot more than having them loose in the box.

You can tailor this to your liking.Should work fine for radio charger and a couple of cars.

It's a nice box arch, but I'd need one that could hold half a dozen Nano's! LOL!
I got e-mail back from Atomic last week stating that they got my request and they will look into it. So we'll see what they come up with for these Dnano's.

what i like about the one on the dnano site is that it looks to be the size of say a 15-17" laptop, smaller than a breifcase. this is appealing in that your taking with you something that doesn't necessarily need a table to sit on.
pointless in my case as i travel with all my rc's in one travel box. i do like the appeal of traveling small and lite though.

I see two problems with the case, as nice as it is. I don't see pockets for the battery, and you don't want to leave the battery mounted in the chassis.
And, some of us by now, have more than one Dnano RC car and that look's like it was only made for just one car. I need something that can comfortably fit at least four! :D
I certainly wouldn't want four of those cases!
I just hope Atomic makes those boxes I mentioned. I sure enjoyed having the Mini-Z ones when I went racing.

the one nitro posted looks like it could hold more than reasonably needed. you don't need pockets for batteries, just cut small slots and stick them in like pigs in a blanket :)
i have a helios though and would need something that can hold that tx.

If the removable panel in the lid is removed the Helios would most likely fit but it is going to be close. If the steering wheel is in the stock location it seems to make it a slimmer(from back to front of steering wheel) TX.You guys have to excuse me as far as my concern to number of cars I'm able to carry. I was a slotcar guy for a long time and was used to having 20+ cars with me most of the time.I might have a little OCD..

My point exactly, I have three Dnano's and possibly considering a fourth one soon. So I too need something that could comfortably carry all four.
I don't have a helios, just the simple basic KT-18.

Dude, don't buy a 4th dnano, get a Helios and a module. It is a totally night and day difference on the experience. Well worth the money. No to mention multiple model memory for your other cars.

fraz, you spoke too late. My Countach is on the way. I've already been recommended the Helio's and will look into it. It would be nice to have one transmitter for three dozen or so cars. I plan on getting back into the Z's as well and would be nice to have one for all.

You can get boxes like these anywhere. Well, online, in the US. Microphones and all sorts of semipro/hobby electronics use these sorts of boxes. You case buy them with the foam pre-fitted, even, and then you just cut it out yourself to fit your cars and Tx etc etc. Good idea though. I'll try to make one over the weekend and post pix. HK is great for DIY stuff because industrial and commercial supplies are no harder to get (at good prices!) than regular end-user items. Online shopping in the US more than makes up for this, however...

I was at my local shipping store today getting a quote for shipping a car to a friend.
I also wanted to see if they had any boxes appropriate for making these protection-boxes. They did not. The man who runs the store suggested I look into boxes that check-books come in. What do you think? I want something that is just the right size for one car with four walls padded by foam. I'm thinking of using the type of grey/black foam padding used to ship computer parts in. I have a nice chunk of that foam that I want to use, but need to find the right sized box.
Any suggestions?

Get this box:

Model is Wisent and the box is about A4 in size.
It comes with the foam and it is cut in little squares for easy modification.
Costs about 15$

I've found a web site that specializes in making custom boxes in any size, type, and amount you want. So I've e-mailed them with the specs I'm looking for. We'll see what they can do and what the cost will be.
My goal is to create something just like what Atomic made for the Z's, but specifically for the D's.
We'll see what happens in the next couple of day's/weeks.

These boxes look great, guys. I haven't had time to make a foam-lined case like Kassi's yet, but I've bought a few plastic organizers like Fraz's. I'll post a pic if I ever get everything organized!
