Here's my Dnano 360 next to my die-cast 360 GTC. Thinking of getting another 360 body and converting it to GTC.

I finally got to run my Dnano on a large RCP track today and it was awesome! The car did hop a little bit, and the steering was very sensitive, but over all it handled very, very well and is TON's better than my Lite. I love the little guy! I think Arch made a comment earlier about how the Dnano is what the Lite SHOULD have been, comparing the two side by side I don't think so. The Lite was intended to be the same exact scale as the normal Mini-Z car's, but based on the smaller sub-compact car's. The Dnano is in a class all it's own and is strictly 1/43. But yes, the Dnano is still TON'S better than the Lite! :D :D :D!

Hey marc, that die cast 360 GTC looks awesome! I really think Kyosho is going to release a ton of AutoScales for the dNaNo, they're just getting started. Maybe they will make a 360 GTC for the dNaNo. :)

I'll be getting my second Dnano tomarow morning along with a full set of hop-up's including the aluminum peices! I'll keep the 360 stock, and will upgrade my number two. Number two will be the Murcielago. Thank's Hammer on the GTC, one of my favorite's. I've got the 1/28 AutoScale version in both the presentation form, and the full-racing graphic's version. So it would be cool if Kyosho did a 1/43 360 GTC in both color scheme's.
I'll post picture's of my new Murcielago and the upgrades as I add theme on. I also ordered their cool set-up board with the magnifiying glass.

Anybody ever think there will be a brushless motor small enough for these guy's yet? I think the one for the Micro-T is probably the smallest brushless right now. Think it'll happen? Just curious.

Has anybody seen the new Dnano bodies? Pictures were posted at the Mini-ZRacer site under the 2008 show thread. If I can find that thread I'll post the link here. There comeing out with a sweet Porsche 911 GTR or GT3 body. Not sure which one it is exactly but freaking sweet! GOTTA HAVE THE WHITE ONE! LOL!

Hi there. You can go to www.DnanoShop.com for Dnano car's, bodies, and hop-up's.
As usual, ball bearings should be the first upgrade! Then tires, then ball differential. Next, springs "VERY TINY SPRINGS" and carbon-fiber H-plates. Last and final upgrades should be motor and gyro. The gyro will help give you more constant lap times by helping you control throttle and steering when turning.
I would also get the set up board since it has magnetic shelves for keeping screws and springs from getting lost. Magnifying glass helps, but sometimes more in the way than usefull. Get the specialty screw driver for the tiny, tiny screws, and the hand-pump for cleaning it after track use.
Hope this helps.

i live in London, England, just had a look at the link you posted thanks,
the wide L track works out to 141. GBP, i'm after the wide L and maybe 1 expantion set, not sure what set yet,
i want the wide L so i can run mini-z's aswell as nano's and the mini-96 looks a bit tight for Z's, but from the pics it looks like 1 wide L is not very technical hardly any turns etc, but 1 mini-96 track looks nice , like a proper little track,
i was then thinking i could get 2 wide L track's but i am limited to about 12 foot by 8 foot, so i dont have the room for 2,
maybe i can get an expantion set that will give me a few more turns etc ?
or just get mini-96 and run z's on that ? lost lol ..
how do other people get on with Z's on the mini-96 track ? is it to small ?
Here's a few photos of mine.

List of upgrades includes:
- Ball bearing set
- Medium CF H-plate
- Aluminum front suspension plates
- Aluminum rear wheel hubs
- Front spring set
- Black wheels
- Ball differential
- 20 degree rear tires
- x-speed motor (depending on the track I'm running on)

I got the black wheels from the dNaNo shop in Hong Kong. I like the medium plate, it might be a little stiff, but I'm liking the way it handles so far.

Sonik, the Mini96 will definitely give you more turns, but I personally find it a little cramped for Mini-Z racing - w/ multiple cars on the track that is - great for practicing at home though. :)

The pictures are beautiful! I wanted to take pictures of mine but my dad took the cam for his trip. :( And both mirrors broke off today. I am not gonna glue them back on because I know they will just fall off again. :( I like my Lambo's wide stance.... My son picked the Carrera GT for his b-day present in May. I wonder if I can buy a white one in the US...
I set up my RCP Mini 96 this evening in the living room and took a couple quick pics of my new dNaNo...I got the Porsche 962C...

Ahh... I love the F40 body. It could be because I fell in love with it in the spring of 1993 when I saw it at the dealership. How much in US dollars will it cost to buy a F40 body in HK?

The body and all the parts necessary to convert it it's about $50. It's crazy expensive because of how weak the HK dollar is. Notice how 'used' my body is. ;)

on eBay they are about $85 USD shipped from Japan. I don't know how much Hobbytown USA charges, or if it is even available in the US.. $50 + $10 s/h is not bad...
I got this Online for $20, and after some fabrication it fits very well on the Murcielago chassis.

The car (http://www.toystop.net/GT-500-Team-Impul-Calsonic-Impul/M/B000UKMTI6.htm?traffic_src=froogle&utm_medium=organic&utm_source=froogle) comes with bigger wheels/tires than Dnano so the Dnano wheels do not fill the wheelwell completely. But at speed, it is not noticeable. :)

Calm down. In those pictures, the Lamborghini is the only dNano. All the rest are diecast models. But I agree that Kyosho needs to make more sports car bodies like Mini Z's. I bought the diecast e46M3 for $30, I think.... They are way cheaper than Dnano. :)

The Carrera GT's wheels are larger than the Murcielago's. The front wheels are as big as the rear wheels of the Lambo in diameter although the width of the front wheels on both cars are the same. The body width is about 5mm narrower than the Lambo. The rearview mirrors are closer to the body so they have not fallen off yet from the side collisions. It rolls over more easily due to the height and narrow width. But the body is replicated very accurately when compared with the diecast model made by Minichamps.

This is my first dNaNo. It came from one of the first production runs in Japan back in Feb. of 2008. It was used by Kyosho at the first media dNaNo launch party in Japan. The photo's were taken in my backyard. The track is part of our injection mold project, I have been working on. Yes, the grip is to scale and just right for going slow or running fast. :)

The body was soaked in paint thinner for around 5 minutes. Then I just used an old toothbrush to scrape off the paint.
As for the wheels just used Tamiya oil based paint and hand brushed it on :)

Yep, the F40 is really beautiful, nice detailing and very well replicated.
The foams are self made. This is my setup for carpet with the stock rear tires on the front wheels. The grip is phenomenal, I can keep up with a Mini-z.

I'm going to the dNaNo track today. I'd like to see how you like the 917k. I've always loved the body style, but was afraid to pull the trigger thinking it would be too squirrelly.

Could not resist as I have been driving the Z version for years.
The details are even better thand the Z: double deck wing and headlights.
The proportions are better too, with a longer body compared to the Z.

I love your choice of the white wheels on the Mazda, it suites it very well! The black Murcielago is awesome, I would've gone gloss black, but that's just me. I was thinking of repainting mine pearl white to match my Mini-Z body. But, I've grown to like the green.
What type of paint thinner did you use exactly? Some will eat the plastic and that would destroy these bodies! So, I'm curious as to what exactly did you use and you said you only left it in for 5 minutes?

I'd also like to find somebody who can re-anodize those blue bit's a different color. I'm seeing red's for the Ferrari's, green for the Murcielago, silver and gold for the other's. :D
Different colored alloy would really pop-out on these cars.

Hi all
My F40 and Murcielago. The Murcielago is fully optioned with the F40 still waiting for parts.
Very nice! And nice choice. I know both cars. You can really feel the difference in handling between RM and MM as those bodies are close in shape. For my part, I decided to keep my F40 stock. It is still agile on narrow and technical tracks while my yellow Murcie is set for high speed on carpet. The F40 is much too nice to be trashed on a mini-z track IMO :)

thanks for the comments. I bought the F40 cos its RM and wider than the 911 which should be more stable in high speed corners.
The bodies are too nice for racing but the good thing is that they are fairly cheap to replace.

The wheels really do set the Porsche off.I like the looks of the aluminum wheels on the Lambo too,but does it not add too much weight?
Marcro
09-10-2009, 04:29 PM
I haven't noticed much weight. I can weight them if you'd like. Those were the very rare and special German-made AVM wheels that were available on ebay a while ago. Have not seen them available since then. But now we have the Aluma-Tech wheels and I'm thinking of getting a set of those. Particularly interested in their dish-style wheels for my upcoming Countach.
It's nice having different wheels on different cars. Having too many wheels the same starts to look generic! LOL!
So when the Countach arrives, I'll have to get those Aluma-Tech dish's.
The PN tires is really what makes them look good. With the stock tires, the wheels look too large, well actually the tires look too small as if they were made for something else. So PN's are highly recommended!
One small thing I noticed about the Porsche, is that the rear wheels don't seem to be perfectly centered with the wheel-well opening's. Only when the suspension is compressed do they line up right.

I'm still trying to get a set of the alloy's for use with the stock chassis tires. I'd like to find two styles, the 5-stars for the Porsche, and the dish-type for the Countach. At Real-Tracks web sites, the only ones I can order are for the AutoScale tires, which I don't want.

Hey guys.
New to dnanos but not the scene.
Was planning on keeping only 2, but
since the 03 is coming out, I don't think
they'd sell easy. Will probably end up
keeping all of them...
I'd have to agree with mk2.
These things are ballistic stock and
a whole lot easier to drive with gyros.
Alot of the ascs look more to scale as well.
Some notes:
Harder plates on carpet is a must. And get
rid of the transponder tag if you run on carpet.
The K ball diff and atm aren't very consistent due
to their designs...
I've had better results running everything stock
and the gear diff with 30k K diff grease. Only mod
I'd probably run now is the hubs...
I love my fully loaded 911, but the new f40 I just
finished kicks it's behind with just a greased gear
diff and bearings lol.
Will get some colored gunmetal, gold, and black,
wheels in when I make my next buy.

I agree with you arch. Remember that collection I had two years ago that I had to sell off? I'd be hard pressed to rebuild that collection again. Right now, all I have is the pearl white Murcielago and I planed on getting the other two, but just hasn't happened. I'm much more fond of the Dnano's anyway.
There are a lot of classic AutoScale bodies I'd love to get my hands on, but why bang my head against the keyboard for one I may never get? And why spend a fortune on AutoScale bodies when I can race a fully hopped up Dnano instead? Dnano's are much more fun to collect these day's.

I didn't feel like ruining a perfectly good diff by permanently
locking the diff with CA glue (or using the second setting on
the K ball diff lol).
My "track" doubles as the living room carpet and unfortunately
some parts of my track will have more wear/unevenness than
others due to everyday use.
Running a sticky diff and harder plate vs. burning a dry diff in
getting caught up on uneven spots and bouncing around in the
rear is not really much of a choice for me.
When I get a real track with less imperfections, maybe I'll return
to dry gear diffs or something lighter, but right now I'm fine with
what works.
-----
I definitely see where you guys are coming from.
I just like the detailing on these and the cases aren't as big
as the zs so I don't have to worry much about space. I also
get a decent pricing on them as opposed to the Z ascs, and
there aren't as many to collect right now (around 30 excluding
the plated ones as opposed to heaven only knows how many
Z ascs).

Only problem with these Dnano's is it takes a lot more to swap out the bodies than it did with the Mini-Z's. I'm sure you know that already but your last sentence made me think this. You should just get a second Dnano when you can and leave the first one as is. Or if you want something just to look at, why not just get the AutoScale?

I like the detailing on the dbr;
decals have little lines showing
and the faux carbon fiber is sick
but... the scale seems a bit off.
Like they just stretched it

The front and rear hang real real low;
the rear catches onto things very easily.
19F/20R (huge wheels), LM pod, and
you'd need the v.2 battery holder or
won't be able to clear the hood.
Feels boxy and slow to me, but I got sick
of it catching to the carpet, so I shelved it.
It'd be overly expensive to convert to the dbr...
The F40 is actually a good set up: just
swap the body if you want a change. :)

Been out for a month... :)
I'd say so... They are not truly adjustable
(setting 1=too loose, s.2=locked, s.3=absurd)
do not come usable out of the box, and
I suspect the balls used are too small as
they always seem grainy.
I was getting all sorts of headaches with my
murc and thought it was tweaked somehow,
but eventually figured out it was the ball diff.
The shaft side sometimes would not bite or would
lose bite during heavy acceleration at the 1 usable
setting.
I wish they included different sized spacers.
Gear diffs seem like less rotational mass and getting
them to work only requires the grease setting to your
liking.
That and they don't cost 30 bucks and time lol. :)
Tires, bearings, hubs, and carbon plates seem required.
Though the alloy fronts do get less stiff after abit
of flourine and use but I'm still on the fence about
those (depending on weight and surfaces run on)...

DBR9 sounds more like a shelf-queen than a track-runner. Is it actually lower than the Murcielago? I thought the Murcielago's sides were pretty low. The F-40 is gorgeous in yellow and I plan on getting one my self some time.
Replicating carbon-fiber at 1/43 is certainly difficult to do. The DBR9 look's pretty good. Scale Motor Sports makes some very high-tech looking carbon-fiber decal in various scales including 1/43. Their 1/43 look's very nice and I've thought about placing some on the 911's rear wing and possibly front lip. Front lip might be a lot tougher than to get right than the wing.
I've also thought about getting one of the Enzo bodies and doing a full-monty CF trim.

My Countach and Porsche with new shoes!
My Aluma-Tech aluminum wheels have shown up today and they are fabulous! My only concern is with the Countach's front wheels. They did not come with the proper bump on the inside that helps lock them into place when installed. I have e-mailed the company to see if they can make me a new batch with the proper bump. The rears are perfect and so for now I'm very satisfied.
It's a good thing I don't have a way to drive these cause I'm sure the fronts will be an issue when driving it. So for now, these will do as display units.
Enjoy the pictures!

Thank's guys. The Countach's 17's were too small for them to mill the nub in place, but it does seem snug enough on that center hole. As for drivability, I'll need a starter kit to find out. I'm going to guess I'll have to put on the stock fronts to drive it, but we'll see how it performs.
That Audi is sweet! I prefer the street version over the GT version in this case.

Not bad.
You probably could have fit 18Fs.
A dab of CA glue could probably hold them in place.
If they introduce 17s without the nubs to hold them
in place, that might hurt their sales...
The stars look a little off, like they'd belong on an
old school muscle car.
Not a fan of the R8 but that lemans GT is sick.

Some pictures of the option parts installed.
I've installed the disc-damper on my Murcielago, and installed aluminum parts on the Countach.
Next upgrades will be complete package for the Porsche, and ball bearings, springs, and H-plates for the Countach. I might add a gyro on the Porsche, but not the Countach.

The Murcielago is now rock solid full on racer! Just wish I had a track to race on! :D

I had a Mini96 RCP track for a while. But since then Dad got a new 2 year old Irish Setter who is so full of energy I was afraid he'd wreck up the track and I'd have no opp's to set it up and use it. I'm looking more and more into the RealTracks system as it look's lot's more durable than RCP.
Fully buffed? Only the Murcielago is full-option.
The Countach just has the alloy bit's, and the Porsche/Subaru are bone stock except for tires.
Next week I'll concentrate on finishing the Countach and doing the Porsche full-tilt.

What do you think about the RCP track?
I'm looking for a track of my own and can't decide which surface I should go with.
Options are:
Kyosho mini96 GP 50x50 or GP 30x30 (better quality)
RCP mini96 (cheaper)
Kyosho rubber Mirage mat
Painted MDF wood.
And I just decided carpet is not the choise for me.
RealTracks are plastic right? Not for dnanos..

I did enjoy my Mini96 and sometimes I wish I still had it. There are times the dog goes with Dad away on trips. :(
I would highly recommend the Mini96 for the Dnano's with the proper PN tires. The cars will rocket all around that track. As I have no experience with any other kind of track, I can't say anything about the other choices.
But from my previous Mini96, it's well worth it. I feel the Mini96 is perfect for the Dnano's more so than the 1/28 scale cars. The Mini-Z's just felt too tight on that track.
From what I understand, with the right tires, the RealTracks are just right for the Dnano.
I'd like to get another track for my self one of these day's now that I have four cars to run with! :D

not sure what your alluding to with your comments on rcp. it's all made at the same place, shipped from the same place. buy it here or in jpn or germany, it's the same track, same material.
yes, realtracks is plastic and yes, it can be used for dnano's provided you have the right tire combination. like any surface, tire selection is critical.
painted mdf can be good. be sure you use the right paint. in the past, mixing sand in the paint was the trick of the trade to provide grip. i really liked this surface but the wood rails were brutal on the cars. i don't see this being used anymore.

Quality is very good, comparable to the AVM's. Handling, well, like other alloy wheels they give a little more stability.

OT but I think that liveries are made in a certain order where they start with the less desirable so they are sure to push the sales a second time with the more desired ones... Now they make the McL Gulf, now only the Porsche 917 Gulf, Lancia Delta Martini, etc...
This is why I did not buy the 917 yet... I want the Gulf and I am patient ;)
About the Aston "lipstick" I think its a tribute to vintage british racecars, like this Lotus here (http://www.tuningfever.fr/fr/pics/cat-35-lotus/pic-365793-lotus-f1-24-brm-1962.php)

other than removing the inside of the light buckets, nope. still box stock. i have not been able to make it to a HTU for any racing yet so i have not bought any kyosho parts. i have a bunch of atomic/pn h plates but i have not tried any yet. first upgrade will be tires.
not much incentive to upgrade when it's just me on my home track.
