Just noticed this over at RS
http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F009%5F008%5F000%5F000&product%5Fid=60%2D4340
Is this new? Obviously it is missing the mods, but does anyone know how it compares to a stock Epoch?

I have one coming, it should be here anyday.
I have two EPOCH's and want to see how this RS VIPER compares to them.

I highly doubt it........this Radio Shack car probably doesn't have a diff or suspension.
But, of course I am just speculating:rolleyes:

I test drove it today at radioshack and the car for 49.99 is decent i guess..doesnt really have front suspension and the rear does have a T-PLATE like the spec 1 where it is made with the chassis and is not removeable like the the spec 2.. Its has lights and turn signals and has an a, b, c selector switch on the bottom of the chassis where i think its probably to switch frequencies or maybe speed selector of low medium and high...the charger is similar and uses the same batteries as the epoch charger..Wheels arent not removeable, but the Viper Body looks pretty clean and looks like a smaller version of the mini-z kind..plastic quality seems to be durable. The car is digital proportioned, but not as great as the digital proportion feel as the epoch.. I would say that this car is like half Tyco and Epoch style ..The transmitter folds for easy storage and does feel somewhat decent..kinda reminds me of a stock digi Q controller but, bigger and i dont remember seeing any digital proportion adjustments on it..the bottom of the car chassis has the tyco style wheel alignment lever and the transmitter has buttons on it for turn signals and etc which is very cool but toyish.. I say this car is more of a toy than a hobby car, but for its price, i think this car is pretty fast and think this car is probably faster stock wise than the epoch..Dont really know, but i could be wrong , but it sure seemed like it.. oh yeah, the car has the same 3 cell setup and the same batteries as the epoch..i notived it throughj the cracks of the t-plate..

I bought one of these a couple of days ago and have run it 5 or 6 times. I concur with your review. A diff would make a big difference I believe. Do the Epochs have rear diffs? I think it would make a difference in handling.
