The finish is made with

gypsum, mortal, cement, tile adhesive

bable fish doesn't help everytime

I don't know the correct word. Something to repair walls in your house. Something that is like powder and you have to mix with water.

Use a spray bottle with water and moisten the surface at little bit. Add some color concentrate to the water for a better finish. You can get it at your local hardware store.

Then put some powder on the wet surface. You will get best results, if you use a sieve (german "Sieb"). Let it dry/harden and repeat the whole procedure several times.

That's it.

I was at The Train Shack in Burbank today and found some really nice Woodland Scenics silicone rock molds. Picked up like 10 different ones along with some plaster and foam blocks. I'm waiting on the rest of the truck components but my MAN 5t is 50% done now. Then I'll measure the steering radius so the terrain can be custom made. Then I'll clear out some space in the garage so we can have a spot to drive.

Can't wait for our first SoCal TTTT Competition!!!

My first Man 5T is 90% finished... I'm stil waiting for a speed controller from Germany (R500).and I have to figure out my steering linkage...and I'm done...check it out

Here it is. For now I'm trying to use the stock frame work but I don't know if I can make it work. I cut out a square hole in the bed for the servo to go through and mounted the servo with mounting tape on 2 sides. Then I had to notch out the top of the frame rail so the servo body would hang down low enough. I had to remove the middle wall of the cab for the receiver to fit. This is where I decided for future projects I definitely want to go IR. I plan to stuff the speed controller between the servo and the front of the bed. I had to take the back casing off the servo because the cover wouldn't mount flush. I might move the batteries up front because it's really rear-end heavy the way it is now. I'm going to try for 4wd on this but we'll see. Started on a brass frame with bad results. Soldering brass is tougher than I had expected. I'll have to crank up the iron and try again.

Cool crane!!...

If you look at my earlier pics I was going to put the receiver in the cab (it fits perfectly...I just wish they made GWS surface receivers with JST connectors..it would fit better)

but i ended up putting the receiver in the rear by the tailgate.. and I might add lead weights in the cab to balance it out.. it will grip better while crawling if it's heavier so I'd rather add weight than shift it..


looking good so far Nate... what are you going to do about the steering/front axle? and the 4WD?

BTW.. I'm also considering mounting the servo in the cab like this on my next one:

Yeah those may be better mounting options.

I will be searching for that MF70 mini-mill today. Hopefully I can find it at one of these 100 dealers around here.

Not sure how i'm gonna go about the steering linkage yet. Until I get the front axle I can't mock anything up.

I want to try that too... but I can't find solid rectangular brass stock anywhere... everywhere I look, the rectangular brass is hollow
