Ever since i got my Ripmax calsonic skyline i was dreaming of installing a better quality body on it.

I like it when the car has some weight and inertia, it drives more lifelike this way, more weight also gives you MORE traction. I uninstalled "traction control" from my skyline (5k ohm resistor) and was surprised it didn't slow down that much with diecast body, my battery life decreased from ±20min to around 15 min.

As you can see from the photos i also used tires from 1:43 model, they have realistic markings and thread. They are like a hard compound and work absolutely wonderful when racing on asphalt ( my stock slicks started to wear out ).

But what i like most in the end - is that you really see the suspension work, as the body gives these hard springs a good workout. And damn, the thing's just BEAUTIFUL!!!

That thing looks awesome :D. Is the epoch body a perfect fit?

If not can you explain the process? Good job!

Hey, glad that you liked it !

Well now i have both my 2 epochs and my Ripmax + Evo body so i can compare them closely -

actually i have 5 min free so instead of reading look at pics i just made - they are worth a thousand ;)

http://img180.exs.cx/img180/8050/13nf.th.jpg (http://img180.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img180&image=13nf.jpg)

here you really see that epoch is WAY bigger than DGmaster/Ripmax cars, DG/RM is closer to 1/43 scale making it less work to fit even small cars like lancer and impreza in 1/43.

To fit my evo diecast body i had to remove 1-2 mm of metal in front wheel arches, and a little in the rear.

That's why we always see muscle car bodies on epoch - they were as big as it gets, and epoch fits those nice.

http://img180.exs.cx/img180/2146/29qz.th.jpg (http://img180.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img180&image=29qz.jpg)

here's another comparison shot - see how compact DG/RM's car is

http://img180.exs.cx/img180/8035/68cc.th.jpg (http://img180.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img180&image=68cc.jpg)

This was shock news for me - when i got epoch i realised its shortest wheelbase setting is 3-4 mm LONGER than DGmasters standard base !

http://img180.exs.cx/img180/3733/50pw.th.jpg (http://img180.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img180&image=50pw.jpg)

And this is the moment of truth - evo body on an epoch - you see that the front fits ok, but the rear wheels interfere with a bumper.(a little)

http://img180.exs.cx/img180/8821/42eu.th.jpg (http://img180.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img180&image=42eu.jpg)

in the front it fits nice and width is ok

http://img180.exs.cx/img180/206/32oq.th.jpg (http://img180.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img180&image=32oq.jpg)

the rear bumper is plastic, so removing 3-4 mm from it to fit epoch's rear wheels will be no problem.

I'll try to get myself another Makinen Evo VI body(white+red) just to install it on my epoch, for collection :)

Hey that body is amazing, where do you get your 1/43 scale bodys? When you say it doesn't slow down much, how much does it slow down exactly?

Do you know about any models for the epoch?

Good work :D

You need to find the 1/43 CARARAMA/HONGWELL Lancer Evo diecast model.

I saw on ebay and in some shops those sell for $11-13, in my neck of woods i can get one very easily for like $7, so I can experiment with those w/o much fear

Cararama makes pretty ****ty models, but their WRC series are VERY GOOD. They look AT LEAST like an $30 diecast model from european manufacturer.

to fit this body on an epoch you'll need to use your hands :) its not drop-in

performance wise i think it didn't affect my max speed more than 10%, what it did affect is my acceleration rate, on grippy surface drag race vs stock epoch this car lags for a second and then picks up speed faster, so they're about equal, remember that stock DG/Ripmax has LOTS of acceleration.

the best thing with a heavier body are those looong drifts you can control even with that slow 7 step steering, if you also install hard rear tires and grippy front, it doubles the pleasure. Good drifts while turning start to happen only when you increase car's weight(INERTIA)
