I have no idea. I'd be willing to bet that it's tank-style steering. If they can steer with AWD, I'd faint.

this just brings a whole new playing field to zz's and zz'se, i know how fast my zz's are but i wonder just what a supe'd up monters machine would be able to tackle....

Get ready to faint then cause they steer like a regular ZZ/bit.

Here's a little vid for you.

Where am I? Oh yeah... ~thump~

~Blinks eyes~ Before I pass out from the combo of that thing having good steering and just getting my permit, could you just post the vid link? The link in the gallery isn't working for me.

I just got one today! I saw it at RS and my first thought was its gotta be tank style control. Then I saw turning knuckles up front. It's not proportinal control, but the 4wd work great! I can climb over almost anything. Sorry for th spelling, it's really late.

*falls down, drooling like a fool*

Holy sh!t, f*************** They finally did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Steering 4WD on a 1/64 scale car!

Um, why are the original zz's $10, and the older SE's $15?
------
ALright guys, I make the challenge now, take it to the next level: make one 4-wheel steer.

Shouldn't be hard. This could also be an awesome base for a TTT truck. Throw in some SE electronics, and you have a fully propo, AWD, Monster Truck ZZ!

I'm gonna buy two. Get somebody to machine all metal gears and dogbone thignys for one. I will then drop some GOOD SE electronics in the other. lengthen the axles and dogbones. Convert to smaller wheels and tires and make an RC64T (A mini version of the RC18T). I will try to do a diff. for it too. Then make Ti parts! (No, I am not insane! Just really dumb sometimes)

If someone would be willing to buy me one I would take it all apart and give you all the specs!

Can you get better motors for them?

These might be a sign of what is to come with the SE2s or whatever they are called.

They have a different motor than the stock ZZs, but there is a new motor upgrade kit for them. I think I might do an SE swap.

cool! I am going to get that too. Is it faster or more torquey? I think these things are the best thing RS has ever, ever done! Unless the SE2s are gonna be FS 4WD with real rally bodies. That would be sick!:D :D :D

What do you mean by an "SE swap"?

jamgunner

hes problaby refering to swaping the stock trucks electrnoics for those out of a SE so it will have propo.

also what are these "se2's" i keeping hearing about....

It means that I would swap a Zip Zap SE PCB in, which is proportional, compared to the stock PCB, which is not proportional. I was also gonna get fets done for this, but after a spin, it'd be uncontrollable with them, literally. This is the most well-made Radio Shack R/C ever. With all the top speed junk, I can go forward, then bakc real quick, which stand it on its tailgate, then hit forward and spin it on the 2 rear wheels, then I hit reverse, and it's back on the ground. I'm liking it more than my xmod right now!

Body: 9.5

Just beautiful, except the hood flames are a sticker.

Speed: 15 out of 10

INSANE SPEED AND TORQUE!

Quality: another 15 out of 10

Much better made than a regular ZZ, since axles can't wear out, and it's AWD!

With an SE PCB and servo, TTT trucks are gonna get owned.

Insane speed? Are you referring to the stock motor and gearing? These things have torque out the wazoo....but I don't think they are all that fast.

I agree that they seem to be well made and nice looking. They are also a heck of a lot of fun becuase they will run over obstacles you can't even touch with a regular ZZ.

I just bought the F-350 monster truck today and it definitely doesn't have "insane speed." It does have some good power, though. It can go up on just its rear wheels quite easily, and can handle some pretty tough surfaces and objects, too. It sometimes has trouble propelling itself in reverse on difficult surfaces, though. I guess that's because the front reals don't actually have the same pushing power as the rear wheels, and the rear wheels can't just drag the front wheels.

No. The stock motor and gears are just too slow, but Über torquey. I got the motor upgrade kit, and with red gears and the orange motor, it has slighly less toque, but a ton of speed. I think it could keep up with my fetted ZZ. With orange gears and an oragne motor, it's really fast, but has barely any torque. If you have a smooth, slick floor, get it up onto its tailgate (go backwards for a bit, then hit forward fast, and the moment it lands on the tailgate, let off), then once it's up on the tailgate, hold the forward button down. You should spin on your tailgate. I have a vid of it, but the quality's bad. Anyway, I am going to have it fetted and see what happens.

Stuff you can't even go over with a ZZ is an understatment. I drove OVER a ZZ with it! I wish I still had my matchbox cars so I could have a mini monster truck course.

get some video of it going over obstacles :p. im not sure what the limits of the webspace my school gives me are but try to keep the size to a minimum and i might be able to host it if you cant.

I have a short vid of it spinning on the tailgate, and I just got Adobe Premiere (ripped), so I'm gonna have a go at it. I might try and get my hands on a camcorder for it.

thats cool. also what kind of angles have you been able to handle with these things? they claim 35 degrees? with all the talk of wheelies im sure its not a lack of power that prevents extream angles but more of doing a backroll off it :p

Wheelies are no problem. I'm kind of upset right now though, because range keeps going in and out, like someone's turning the pot while I'm driving it. I guess I'll return it and see what happens.
