what's up?.....i picked up some bit-char-g tracks at the anime store today.....i got two- track sets...after putting all the little pads on the bottom of them..i started to set them up...playing around with them a little..i found that building a nice track with those little dividers is not as easy at it seems....i was using them on a hardwood floor..and more often then not i ended up just driving over the damn things.....was thinking about a lego track...with the lego roadplates..i saw a pic of a nice track on some website...wondering if anyone uses these regularly....do they work well?..anything i should know would be appreciated

That's a great idea - the LEGO surface might be a bit low traction, but if you can resurface it with something a bit more sticky I'm sure it would work great! I'm going to try this now!

I just tried the LEGO track idea with 3 x 4 baseplates. The road surface actually works really well with the BC-G tires. It's not actually as slick as I thought, it has a texture to it that provides traction. The nubs make a great "gravel trap" too if you run off the track. I just spent a few minutes setting up barriers on the outer edge of the track, and trees on the interior, and it's a pretty fun track now (without the constant getting stuck in gravel traps). It also works great with the Mini GP Bikes, though it could really be a bit bigger for them as they go a lot faster. i went by the legoland store today....i used to love legos when i was a kid..i looked around for roadplates but couldn't find any....they did have some amazing 25 foot tall girrafes made from legos..as well as a life size darth vader,boba fett,and r2-d2.....i couldn't believe they didn't have any road plates....maybe i'll try the toy store instead...maybe build a little city...and race around in it

I've found it difficult to locate road baseplates in any shops; ToysRUs had them at one point, now the best place is LEGO Shop at Home (at lego.com or via Mail Order). Thanks for the great idea though!

yeah no problem....when i first thought about tracks..the first thing i thought about was legos...(when i was younger i had a scale model of the city i lived in made out of all legos...it was about 15 feet long and 10 feet wide)...then i was looking thru some sites and found a pic of a lego track http://www.coasterdom.com/~bcusa/images/Gallery/legotracktopview.JPG
definately gonna have to get some road plates...the bit char-g track set sucks...so there goes 30 bucks....i was at mitsuwa market and they had a didi-q track set...does anybody know the deal with thiose?

Legos work really well for corner railings. You know those beams with all the holes. Connect them together around your corner only using one bump (what else do you call'em) this will make you corner railings 2 beams high. It works really well if you have enough beams and they aren't too long. Of course this doesn't work with the lego plates.

they used to be up, they must have taken them down and updated keep checking or just go straight thru the main site

The best place to get Lego road plates is at Lego Shop at Home (http://shop.lego.com/default.asp) Do a search for road plates. You can buy as many of whatever type you want!

sigh.... those blocks are way too expensive for me. i wish they were cheaper.
