I just bought the MicroSizers Nissan Skyline and a BitChar-GMotors 3.8 Motor.

I think I need different gears aside from what I get with the car. Can someone please confirm this and tell me what I need to get?

I haven't received them in the mail yet, I just ordered them today but had to run to get to my grad class on time so I didn't have time to find out about the gears.

If someone could explain the gearing to me that would be good. It seems that there is a pinion gear, and idler gear and then another on the rear axle itself?

I supposed I will probably find out more when the car actually arrives.

Thanks!

You can read about Gearing in the Bit FAQ (in my sig)

But as far as 'NEED'? You don't need anything else for the 3.8 motor, the stock 9.86:1 Gear will work just fine.

cool, thanks.

Just so u know, I did actually read ur FAQ b4 asking my question. I just wasn't sure that I could use it with any gearing since someone in a post had said u have to use the black gear with the 3.8 motor. It appears to me that maybe this person was a little too vague about the "black gear".

The gearing ratios and power vs. top speed in your FAW were very useful.

the black gear is the pinion gear that goes on your motor. if you buy Tomy brand motors, they come with 2 gears because Tomy used the motor for 2 types of cars. Bit Racer and Bit Char-g
Bit racer i think is phased out in japan. and they brought it over to the US under the name HotWheels K.I.T.T. Racing(or something like that) Those cars only run straight. they don't have any steering. they run inside a track. and when you use the motors, you want to use the white pinon gears on bit racers. so always use black with bit char-g/microsizers.
you can get the gear set if you want. using the 12:1 ratio gears will help with the acceleration. and the 8.25:1 will give you very very very high top speed:D
