First, please excuse the bad pics. They are taken with a cheap digital camera. Here is the URL:

The paint job, it's a sad story. Basically, I did a beautiful Satin Silver coat over the yellow Cobra body. Then painted over that with acrylic all the fine details an such. It looked GREAT. Then I went to throw on a clear coat or two, and the biatch flipped over in the grass..
So I got mad and doused it with the spray. Which you're not supposed to do.. So anyways.. I had already built the back window mod, and wasn't about to do another. So I did with what I had and made the car bleed a little.. =)
When I first got the car, 3 days ago. I decided it didn't have enough power. So I took the car apart and ran the voltmeter on everything.. started clipping wires, adding in volts in different places.. My first creation was a single 76 PX 1.5v batt. from Radio Shack. I had it self-contained inside the car. You couldn't even tell I had made a modification. Ran fast, at least 3 times faster than my NOS motor at 1.2v.. After playing with that for a couple hours, I decided to test the motor with more power.. I used a thermal testing unit, I didn't want to blow my rare NOS motor.. (lol)
So after putting (2) 76 PX batts. inline with the nimh 1.2 I had a whopping 4.2v at the rear wheels. I still hated going in and out of the car to change the batteries. As well, it's good to recharge the internal 1.2v nimh batt once every 5-6 minutes. So that you are not completely tapping your (extra) batts for the power. And with this mod, you SHOULD NOT have your alk. batts. in the loop while charging.
I then decided to cut out the back window. And add a spring loaded positive/negative batt. holder. I think one of my pics has the batts loaded. When I want to charge my internal nimh batt. I just pop out the alk's and stick it on the charger. When it's done, I pop the alk's back in...

Oh and I rewired the car antenna (sp), it broke off during all my mod'ing. I had to rewire it to the main board.. Don't wish to do that again. A good stern wire works well, I noticed I get better range when the antenna is STRAIGHT up.
Pretty simple mod actually, except - be careful of the hair-like wires heading into the front end of the car. That's for the electro-magnetic stering.
Unless someone has already done it, my next move is to get the hand unit to push more power to the antenna, (not to the charging unit). I WANT RANGE!!!
Hope I didn't bore you.
