it wont even go ..i have to give it a little push to get it going ..i bought one of these cause of the hype ...hopefully it can still be fast ,.,.,.any suggestions??
the NOS motor is the fastest thing I can find that works in the ZZ with the stock setup. I'm working on maybe offering a "booster board" that will shove more current to the motor. Do a search, this issue is well known. The microsizers and bits both have different circuitry that seem to push the motors a little harder
heh i put my 3.0 in my ZZ...buuuut...it doesnt work good, it only goes forward :D and seems to go slower....
ill stick to the NOS and turbo motor...

i actually think the turbo motor works better than the nos...but can i add a battery upgrade abnd then will the 3.8 work ???thanks
after a battery upgrade, I'd bet several things will work. Technically the 3.8 should work after I have the booster board made up too.
I'll let you know in a few. I just ordered the 3.8. I'm already running a dual-cell 2.4V with the 23,500RPM NOS motor and that alone boost the initial torque a ton. I'm figuring it will probably put through enough to make the 3.8 run nice too. But this current thing is a problem. I too am trying to get this guy pushing out more current.
aXon,
have you found any wiring schematics for the car itself? There are tons floating around for the controller but I haven't seen anything for the board on the car yet. Let me know if you find anything. I'd really like to check that out.

axon ...where the post that you were talking bout
catman25,
All you need to do is connect the negative end of the new battery to the negative end of the other one already in there by wire and do the same with the positive ends. You can solder it (but be careful to not heat the battery up too much) or just tape it if not comfortable with that. This will create a parallel circuit and increase the amperage with the same voltage (I think that's right).
And as long as you're just adding another NiMH battery and in parallel, you CAN still use the same charger. It will just take longer. If you were changing to Li-Ion you'd have to mod the charger though.
Good luck!

BTW,
You need to mod your controller if you decide to go series with the wiring. Not a big deal, but you'll have to take the controller apart too, or else make a stand-alone charger.

Hey Guys,
When the Zip Zaps first came out I got one and tested all the motor speeds to see which ones would work. The 2.6 is the fastest motor that works well in a stock Zip Zap. Any thing higher that that and the car doesn't supply enough power to get moving. If you add a second battery then you can use every speed.
