I searched my house for some models that would fit, and I found a corvette boddy that had the exact same wheelbase as my xmod... so, with my dad's help, we turned a model body into an xmod body.... it needs some paint, and we still have to fit the glass is as well, but I figure you guys deserve a look anyway!

Nice find midgetman. And that was a 1/24 scale model? Yeah, slap some paint on it and throw the glass in it and you got a one of a kind......right now.;)
Good work!

I bet that's the Ertl 1/25th scale 1996 Grand Sport. It's almost exactly the same as my 1994 ZR1 body.
Oh yeah, and paint those stock RSX wheels black to get the correct Grand Sport look...

That looks great. Are you going to add in the window and all that stuff? How did you make the body fit onto the chasis properly?

it was a 1/25, as i said in my previous post.... I'm not sure what color I should paint it though.. I'm debating whether or not I should go with my color changing paint(on my rx7, u may remember)... I think I may even add a light kit... it would be awesome to make my own hideaway headlights... I'll juss make them up all of the time, but... i dunno lol.. that's more work to do!
the glass is tricky because of the stupid frequency chip:mad:

yeah, I will be adding glass....
as for the body, it took alot of trimming stuff off so it would be able to fit... then, I had to cut a slot of the front of the body so that the front tab of the car would fit... it took a while to complete the process, but we did it!
here is a pic juss to give you guys an idea of what it will look like with the glass **note: the glass is not glued in, this is juss to show you about what it should look like when done... also, this is without the frequency chip installed!**

Man, the more I see that the more I want one. That's an older model too...darn. I would love to slap some paint on that thang.

haha.... you defintely need to make yourself a custom body! you would make it schweet!
haha, you know I'd love to send this thing your way for you to paint it up with one of your schemes!

Do you already have the chassis extended to it's maximum length? There is a small amount of adustment you can make, and if you'r Xmod was originally a Civic or RSX you can make it longer, maybe fill some of that gap.

Actually, the Civic has the same wheelbase as the Skyline and Supra, which is already set all the way back (longest).

Thanks for the correction, I did not know that. I guess I just assumed it would have a short wheelbase since it probably has the shortest in RL.

there is a gap in there but I'm unsure on how to mount the rear. the body stays on because the side of it(the doors) fit prefect on the chassis. this is pretty much a looks-only body, anyway, so i think how it is should be good enough!

No, it's not good enough. :p If you can't race it without the body shifting or falling off, then it's not finished...
BTW, I'm partial to the colors the car already came in, mostly because the '96 Grand Sport is a pretty rare Corvette.

Where is the RSX set at? In the middle? I have heard that the RSX's chasis is smaller than the other cars.

Yes, the RSX uses the middle setting. I don't think any cars use the short setting at this point.

don't get me wrong... the body doesn't just fall off on its own.. juss when you run into stuff!! if you're really good, you should have no prob racing... but, I've already broken the front slot. I had to reglue it... the body is way too flimsy and I don't trust my driving enough to race with it.. as for the colors, I kinda like them, too lol...
thanks, Robn!

yup, I did nothing to the chassis, just the body!
