Hey everyone. I'm about to buy an xmod. Is is worth it? I'm new to the RC world, and I need some suggestions. Also, could someone give me a link to the official mini z site? Thank you

Can someone also explain to me how gear ratios work? (I'm 15, I have no idea what I'm doing) thank you

One more question (sorry about all these) Can parts from xmods be mixed with other companies?

i'd say there worth it

and with gear ratios, the lower the number the higher the top speed. the higher the number the faster the acceleration

if you divide the rpms by the gear ratio you'll find the speed the wheels spin at (if there is no drag)

The Setup I'm thinking of buying Black Honda Civic, light kit, 2nd motor kit, or should i spring for a mini z engine?

Not too shure there. For the ultimate speed, you want to upgrade your speed control (any number of ways to do this) and either buy a high-powered motor online or rewind your own. If you check the www.minizracer.com site, you can find a ton of motor-related information.

But yes, the stage 2 will be plenty fast. Cheap (compared to min-z stuff) too.

if you plan on turning with the stage 2 be careful. i had blue gears with stage 2 running with energizers and i turned sharp and i think the wheels caught on something in the street. i rolled my skyline atleast 5 times on that one turn. it was hard to count it spun real fast

It's a long story. But you need a pinion puller before you can do anything. Find one from a hobby shop that sells slot cars.

Once you have one, take the pinion off, desolder the caps from the motor can, and bend the metal tabs out to open it. Remove the armature, desolder the wire on it, and replace with slightly fewer turns of slightly thicker wire. Don't go overboard. Re-assemble the motor, solder the caps back on, and press on the pinion.

Easy, huh:p ?

you have that backwards. the lower the number the better the acceleration and the lower the top speed. the higher the number lower acceleration but better top speed.
