View Full Version : BC's RSX project.
Bad Company

I've started my next project. I'm taking my extra RSX and gonna customize it....hopefully to the fullest.
I thought I would mix it up a little bit.
What I have done so far:
1. Shaved down the lower flaps on the wild nosepiece and removed the upper flaps.
2. Removed the front pieces on each mild side skirt.
3. Rounded off the bottom of the wild rear bumper.
I still plan to:
1. Do the double lights mod on the headlights + add the running lights under those.
2. Install a second set of brakelights for double brakelight mod.
3. Install the disc brakes.
4. Of course...slap a custom paint job...(Trying to decide on a color right now).
5. Do something with the wheels.
6. And whatever else I can think of the next couple of days.
Here are some pics showing the modifications to the body kits so far...

Yeah, I was thinking about doing something to the muffler(s). I just don't have it/them on now because I still have to paint, etc.

I thought about doing that with those side skirts as well. That front piece sticking out was bugging me.
As for wheels, I'd do gunmetal with polished lip, although it depends on the body color you decide on.

If you want to run 4 LEDs in the RSX, be carefull- hte outter light spot is right on the wheel. It'll probably rub if you don't do it right.

Yeah, I had the same issue with running lights on my Skyline. I just bent the 2 prongs away towards the hood.

Not much progress so far today. I filled in some holes in the front body kit and customized the spoiler.
What do you think? Yay or Nay?

Trust me, it looks a lot better seeing it in person, but it will look better once it all has been painted. If not, I'll have another normal spoiler painted up too.

Looks alot cleaner than the stock "wild" kit, IMO... I'm liking how it looks so far.

Here are the extra lights...
2 Extra head lights, 2 running lights, and 2 extra tail lights.

thats a lot of lights....its probably an easy job but its prob not for me lol you plan on showing plans or is it a secret?
Bad Company
10-28-2003, 09:58 PM
There are no plans, it's pretty simple. You get three light kits, and remove the headlights from the 2 extras, and one of the tail light sets. Next you just splice the wires for 3 headlights together. Be sure to splice the wires with the white line to each other, and the ones without it to each other. Do this for both sides. Next do the same with the 2 tail lights on each side.
You should end up with a mess like this...

wut r u goin for w/ that spoiler... r u just gunna paint it and leave it 'stacked' or are you gunna take the top part of the original wing off and replace it? nice job BTW
Bad Company
10-29-2003, 06:52 PM
I was thinking about just leaving it stacked. I sanded down the top of the original a little. I'm not really sure about the spoiler yet, I have another couple ideas, but either way, I will paint the extra "original" spoiler the color I paint the car just in case.

what is that stuff u put on the spoiler is that lighter then the pastic or heavier i plan on making a trueno body i don't know what to use to make it out of tho
Bad Company
10-29-2003, 07:30 PM
It is called styrene. You can buy it in sheets of various thickness, so the weight would depend on the thickness you buy, but it is rather light stuff.

ooo hmm if i were to use a lighter would i beable to melt the two pieces together like that for angles?

I can tell that RSX is going to come out well. What color are you planning to paint it? Let me guess you are going to use TAMIYA brand paint.:D

How did you guess????......I'm still tossing between Candy Lime Green and Mica Blue. The primer coat is drying as we speak.

Im thinking Candy Lime Green (just my opinion). I havent seen any green/lime xmods out there. What kind of masking tape do you use? Tamiya?

You guessed right again. When it comes to modeling-painting supplies, they are top notch. A little more expensive than say...Testors, but IMO well worth it.
I am leaning more towards the Candy Lime Green too for that same reason, now if only someone doesn't slap that on theirs in the next 2 days. :(

Paint it green. Looks awesome so far BTW.
Bad Company
10-31-2003, 12:14 PM
OK....A little preview.
I decided to go with the green. This is only one light coat, so it will be a little more deeper and glossy.
What do you think? It can be painted over still...but not for long.

what about the spoiler  is it going to be green to or what because you leave the body kits on why not the spoiler
Edit I forgot to say it look good and what p no never mind what color is the paint like I know green but is it lime it looks like a lime green
Bad Company
10-31-2003, 12:35 PM
I modified one of the body kit spoilers, not the one in my earlier pics. I may leave it silver, I don't know. I can always paint it too later. I have a few other things up my sleeve, and I want to see how it turns out before I decide.

Thank you very much! I wouldn't that I'm the best. There are way better out there, I have seen them. I'm mostly a body and wheels man, but I hope to get more involved in the internals in the near future.
The graphics are vinyl decals I had made for me at the local sign shop.

ARGH! My stupid hobby shop doesnt make custom decals.

Not the hobby shop, the sign shop. They are everywhere, most will do it for little to nothing for something that small.

Hey BC, I was wondering if you could give me the measurments of the wheel base for all three styles. I have a Nissan 350Z body that I just finish the color on and thought that it would make a sweet xmod body.
What do you think

neone notice the pic of the 350 Z has seats, how many of your xmods have seats? mine dont jk ne who looks like a good candidate for a body keep it up and also BC I was sorta lookin at your finished product and saw that if you were to round off the front nose it would kinda look like a porsche, maybe im just seeing things, ne one else see it?
nosser
11-28-2003, 05:05 AM
I have a 350 tamiya model and if you want to put that on an xmod you will have to extend the chassis quite a bit and the wheels will not be wide enough too. I had one on my mini z and I needed the widest inch up rims just to make it look okay.
