You all know me and my wheel mods. I'm at it again. I just picked these up at the LHS. They have lots of different types. I figured I would try one set out and see how it works. I need to figure a way to drill out the half circle. I might try drilling a smaller hole on the circle side, and cut it out with a X-acto knife.
man those look nice. can't wait til i seem'em on the car. You'd better post some pix.
btw;
is there a place online that sells those?

Here they are installed without the disc brakes. I still have to figure a way to get the discs behind the wheels, there is not much room with these wheels, they sit a little further in than the stock ones. They offset to the inside, so it doesn't leave you much room.
look'n good! i already ordered mine.....:D

Yeah, I'm going to order some metal lug nuts to take care of all of that.
One word of advice....depending on which style wheels you get, and whether then offset to the inside or outside, you may need to install some spacers behind the wheels.
Actually, I've only had mine since yesterday. Heh

Yes, the stock tires do fit pretty well on the XS wheels, but they might slide off in a tight turn. The 17" XS wheels don't have the little rib, but they are the same diameter.

couldn't tell by the pics, but how did you end up getting the
d-shaped hole in there?

I used a small hand drill bit (smaller than the finished hole), and drill a little off center. I then used an X-acto knife to open the hole up to the correct size, and cut a flat edge to the oppisite side where I drilled off center. I then used the little metal D pin/axle from the stock front assembly to press in the hole and open it to the perfect shape.

have you found wheels that are just slightly larger than stock?

No. not yet. I haven't really been anywhere to look yet, I've been too busy dodging rackets and tennis balls with my Skyline at the courts.
Maybe I should paint my car tennis ball green and mess with the players.

or get one of those big tennis balls (there like the size of a basket ball) and cut the bottom and stick that on top. they might think there seeing things

The RSX looks sick
maybe if you had a heat torche or something likethat you could make a piece of metal shaped like the hole heat it up realy hot and melt through the plastic i dont know if this would work beacuase i dont have one yet i think the wheels are plastic so sorry if they are aluminum or something just thought it might be worth it

Whoa that's confusing. Got pictures of doing that or sum it up a little?

what's so confusing? all he did was drill a hole then slowly shape it with a hobby knife until he got the proper D shape

I have to admit, it sounds like a pretty tedious process, that's for sure. The heat idea might be a sound one, but I've yet to try it. Perhaps heating up a spare axle with a soldering iron?

Not good with that. I got this scale like thing on my finger from sodlering irons. We need some pics of the X-Acto thing.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i think on a stock xmod <before awd kit> the front wheels connect to two small pins rather than one large axel like the rear. If any of you have taken your front completely apart you'll know what i mean. My idea would be to take out one of those two pins from the front and heat it with a soldering iron while holding it with some pliers or something, then just push the hot metal through the plastic to get your d shaped hole. I think it'll work...i'll have to open up the front again to double check on the pins though. Good luck.

Actually, like I said before, I did use one of the metal axle pins to finish the holes. I use the hobby knife to get it close, but a little smaller, then pushed one of the pins thru to open it up to the correct size, but I didn't have to heat it.

sweet... i'm ordering mine as we speak. i am going to try the heat method and see what happens, i'm just hoping it doesn't melt too much of the wheel and screw it up... we'll see though.
before i go any further (and use the heat method) has anyone yet to try it? thanks...

Seems to me that (using the methods described) it would be very difficult to get the hole exactly centered. BC..... When you spin the wheel does it run true? If so I applaud your skill.

Can you change the tires on these? Will the stock XMODS tires fit? Thanks.

yes they will but you need to glue them on because they dont have the ring in the middle.

Oooh, *drools* pretty......
Those wheels would look good on a resto-mod like, oh say, a Camaro.
