View Full Version : Something I noticed about the AWD kit.

Maybe cuz it's early morning here, but while I was sitting here installing the AWD kit on my Skyine chassis, I noticed how the kit appears it can only be installed in the longer wheelbase cars/chassis. Here is the problem. Once you install the front cone gear and the rear and go to slide the the rear end back on, it will only slide up the the last screw hole for your chassis wheelbase adjustment (the farthest towards the rear). My guess is you would have to cut down the shaft to be able to get it to fit the other 2 holes.
Has anyone installed the AWD in the RSX which has the shorter wheelbase?
Maybe I'm missing something, I just woke up.

Yes, I got installed on mine, but I was installing it on the Skyline anyway, so it fit cuz of the longer wheelbase.

That is kind of odd, so if you wanted to shorten the wheelbase of a car (2wd) the shaft would still be to long. That piece between the the front uprights looks critical to keeping the rear gear properly meshed.
There must be two other shaft lengths to allow the wheelbase adjustment.Shafts could be made very easily also, just need to get the right size rod and notch it.

I didn't have much of a problem besides the abudance of screws when installing the AWD on my RSX. I guess i would've finished sooner if i paid attention to the instructions lol

Maybe the RSX and the Civic have shorter driveshafts. I'll have to look into this when I install the AWD on mine.

Can you get a measurement and pics of the RSX front drive end under the cover like I have seen of the Skyline?

The shafts have to be different lengths. That's how they do it on HPI's Micro RS4, except it's belts.

please explain how/why it works better? i still have my supra and skyline that i haven't installed the awd yet (too lazy). If it does really run better i'll re-install my stock on in my RSX.
