I just checked with the local RS manager, and he checked and showed some stores in his region (Virginia) had gotten them in. but none around here. He was going to try to get some transfered to his store. I'm still waiting for the stuff I ordered directly from the warehouse to arrive, it shipped yesterday.

I was able to purchase today......Red and White Supra, RSX, RSX Body Kit, AWD Kit and Ball Bearings. I have pictures, but I have to figure out how to make them smaller, they are too big. Any suggestions?

Right click on pic, select edit. Should open in paint, if not open with paint. Select "Image", then scroll down select "stretch/skew". Then in the horizontal and vertical boxes, put in a number between 0-100, usually 30 works well for me. Then save and post.

Another option I use is use a service like Picturetrail.com (http://www.picturetrail.com).
When you upload a pic don't worry about size there and in the move to folder options choose (Best viewed on 640x480 monitor) and it resizes for you. Then on there go to more options and choose image URLs. them post that URL in a message like
[ img ] the url [ /img ]

just got mine last night, also got the 4wd kit... the body is friggin awsome.... havent got to play with it much, going now :)
i would like to see a mod where there would be 2 more cells humped up on top of the chassis... at this point im not sure if it would fit under the body, and im too afraid to be the first one to try something like that.

What I got came to 90 something $ so I will have to get the rest later.

You took the words right outta my mouth... this is the car that I am most interested in as well.
Another question... Are they all the same crystal frequency and then you have to buy the crystals to make them play nice together?
Thanks,

I live in Texas, and just found out about these things yesterday through superstreet. While I was at the mall, i looked in rs for them, but only saw superstreets rsx. If ne one knows of where u can get them in Texas, preferably around the dallas/richardson are lemme know.

xmods should be right next to the zipzaps section.
jerm781
10-13-2003, 03:40 PM
So far nothing is interchangable except maybe the motor if you can get the pinion gear off and change the plug. The body might fit but you have to make new mounting points, but the wheels will line up
mcojoc
10-13-2003, 03:49 PM
... You can probably get 1/32 and 1/24th scale pinion gears from parma to fit these motors and also a pinion puller as well. I have one and some old pinions from my old slot car days...These are standard brass pinion gears, with the motor color coding based on the size of the spur/pinion, (stage 1, 26k motors, stage 2, 30k motors, all with different pinions.)....

Why would you think that? All of the stores are not the same distance from the warehouses... and they might use different shippers (UPS, FedEx, Airborne, etc) to get there... all sorts of variables.

ok i stand corrected no one around my part of MD has them yet. i cant wait until they come in i have enough cash to buy an xmod and whatever they have for it and still last me until my next paycheck comes:D . last i heard from the shack closest to me was the manager said that she thinks they will be in soon cause she has a meeting on sat. and xmods r on the schedule. if you guys think itll be a good idea i could call her up and have her send this site to n e higher management that she can so that they can hear straight from the consumers like RadioShackSales does.

hey guys, to all those living in eastern mass, you shoudl be able to get them now or very very soon because i just picked mine up in the quincy radio shack, they only had 3 red supras adn 3 white supras, a bunch of motor kits, 2 suspension kits, 1 awd kit, 1 light kit, a few wheel and tire kit, 1 foam tire kit, a couple bearigns kit and 1 or 2 nimh kit. i picked up a red supra, suspension kit, bearings kit, and awd kit.
my awd kit was defective, the front passenger wheel was tight, i could only turn it with my fingers and whenever i hit the throttle, the front diff woudl transfer power to the driver side wheel. suspension travel with the new swing arms frnot adn rear suffered, i had to slightly sand and forcibly bend one of the legs on the driver side knuckle to even let it move. i'm definitately returning this or at least try to exchange it if they happened to have another one. i'm also returning my efini SE adn the initial D tuner kit, not worth my money IMO.
oh yeah, the supra, suspension, bearings, and awd cost me 97 bucks with tax

i hope they will get out here in metrowest. i live about 30 miles west of boston.
I can confirm that the RS on Rte1 in Saugus MA has'em instock. The only bodykit they have instock though is the RSX, so i bought the RSX along with every mod they had.......ended up spending roughly $180.00 for everything.
note and fair warning to anyone getting the 4wd kit...., it's a pain in the butt to get it together. Oh and before i forget bearings are also a pain.

the awd kit was a pain to install, especially since they gave me a defective piece. The driver side knuckle was melted it looked like. the piece was shorter and fatter than it should have been, and the dampener (spring) did not move at all. I solved this problem by taking the knuckle that came with the car and putting it on instead. i recommend the awd kit though, because it made such a big difference. my supra used to spin out if i made a tight turn while only going like 1/2 to 3/4 speed. Now, i can be going full speed and make a sharp turn and not lose traction. Sometimes, it even drifts! which is really cool. and the baking is also majorly improved.
Just my say on the awd kit.
P.S. it really isnt that hard to install, it only took me like 30 mins, AND THAT WAS WITH THE SCREWED UP KNUCKLE.
side by side comparison of bone stock xmod vs. fully modded xmod (4wd, stage 2 red motor, suspension, tires, bearings, not fine tuned yet though)......= stock xmod wins the drag race, but loses around corners.
I'll have to do another test but i think the stage2 motor and 4wd kit takes a toll on the batteries much quicker than bone stock.
(i had to get two cuz the first one i bought i just threw on all the hop-up parts w/out running it stock and i wanted to see if there was going to be a big difference or not, i went out and bought the second one only a few hours later.....):D

its reccomended that u use the stage one upgrade with the awd kit, because it produces more torque than the stage 2. the stage 2 has more power at higher rpms. but yea, the awd kit makes a huge difference

i called around and most of the stores around me (bloomingdale, a suburb of chicago) just got them. the closest store had 4 or 5 skylines, 2 rsx's, 3 white supras, and 2 red supras. not much in the way of hop ups though, and only one of each of the ones they did have.
the hardest part was deciding on which car to get, but i ended up getting the rsx. also picked up the suspension kit and the awd kit.

i had no problem at all installing my awd kit.... and if you read in that mini mag, the stage 2 motors are not recomended for awd cars... they have less torque.

eh, maybe you got a non-defective one. the knuckles that came with it looked like it was partially melted. i didn't even take note if teh knuckles for the stock and awd kit was the same or not until i read frozenphoenix's report. now i gotta run around eastern mass looking for one

Glad i could help u out. Another thing; if u didnt throw away the knuckles that came out of the car, u can just put that in instead of the melted part. they are the exact same thing( besides the defectiveness), and u should be able to fix it without getting a new awd kit, or searching for a certain knuckle.

yeah thats what i ended up doing too, the stock ones are perfect compared to the knuckles that came with the awd kit. The knuckles that came with my awd kit weren't melted or anything just not completely even (didn't have as much suspension travel).
