boris most people scratch build their gearboxes and are made to fit the chassis that its going on(usually being a part of the chassis anyways) so its not really going to be easy to make a gearbox without knowing the chassis its going on.
i see it as having 2 options:
1. buy a ready assembled motor/gearbox combo from germany
2. buy the gears/motor and make your own from germany
why not get the parts from germany like i do,i dont know how much shipping is to usa from germany but peter is a nice bloke and accepts paypal also

:ö: a 9gram or smaller servo! has most of the gear parts and the right size motor needed to run a 1/87 truck, minus the worm gear
and the servo electronic board can be modified to micro esc.

hmmm...ill have to see how big my other servo is...hmmmm.....ive got two because it is a flight set i got for i micro flight plane i did not finish.............ill toss the worm gear and then what? what mods bo i do on the board its self?
thanks for your help!

:ö: just replace the potentiometer with resistors... like
this.. (http://www.tinyrc.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9532)

is the resistor change fully neccasssary killer? I am too lazy to want to do it.

i tryed pluging the servo into the recever and moving the throtle on the controller and only got a jerking motion.........oh, and as im using aircraft electronics i have no reverse so when im in a trial, its all or nothing, lol!:D

:ö: it's not that necessary :), but you could save a lot of space if you do this mod, 2 resistor are smaller in size than the smallest 5k ohm potentimeter you can find, this will also eliminates the need for you to turn or adjust the potentiometer "on the truck" everytime you turn it "on" ;).

:ö:maybe your battery is already used up, use freshly charged batteries on your TX and your truck, hope this eliminates the twitching ;), i wonder if aircraft esc's have reverse!:p, you should try using a modified servo board.. it has reverse! ;)

oooooo! im exited, i just got order conformation on the roco trucks! 4-5+ days till they get here! (then i really get to trial!) :D :D
im recharching my controller and receaver so i can try this again.......im not sure they were charged to the peak last time.....

the servo pluged into the rx directly makes it act like a throtle servo for a nitro/ gas powred plane....lol......i guess i will have to mod the board!.......hear goes nothing! (ill order an extra gws servo just incase.......gws is less expensive than hitec....)

:ö: it acts like a throttle servo for a nitro powered car?..., ei, do you have a spare TX aside from the one you are using?, i believe you are using a single stick 2channel FM tx for airplane... try another type of tx, that should work!, unless you want to have a drag racing truck!

its a 3chanel, the stick is elevator/rudder (or flaperons) and there is the throtle control on the back side........its a clever design.........ill post a pic....

my cam isn't very good but you can kindof see in the pic that it is the "Focus 3 FM SS" there is also a "Focus 2 FM SS" but i got the 3 ch one..........it tends to work better with EDF aircraft.......i am looking into getting a full set of GWS gear for my aircraft and this transmiter i can dedicate to TTTT use.......and if i get another cristal set i can make more than one truck....:D

here you can see the throtle control on the back side aswell as the stick on the front...........

:ö: hmm.. so that's how the single stick type tx work :),... must be the throttle control program on your tx works like a mechanical speed controller on a 1/10 car.. like low, med and high speed only... maybe you should try using different tx to make it work better ;)

it should work if i mod the board or i could use the esc for my ducted fan................hmmmmm......ill figure somthing out! lol
