Namuna I read you compatibility post, and I'm having a hard time adjusting my Bit Char-g motor to work in my ZZ.
Can yo explain how you got it to work?

The NOS motor is way too slow for me.

Look at this thread (http://www.tinyrc.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1327) where I explain the problem.

You definitely have to fidget with motor to get them to fit...But they will fit.

Now, about 'speed'. Are you disappointed with the top speed? or the acceleration?

Namuna, did you have better luck using the bit motors in zz's? If so what was the motor size and gear ratio used?

As I had said before I put a 2.6 in using both 9.86:1 and 12:1 ratios, both performed like crap.

could someone explain the color of the gears to me? which one is fastest?

blue accelleration with lower top speed
green standard all around
red top speed with almost standard accelleration

anyways...yep i just got my ZZ and its like a 1.o Bit..NOS motor doesnt even make a difference

I ran right out and bought a 27mhz and a 49mhz mustang and the F&F tuner kit.

I can honestly say that the B-G in its stock format outperforms the ZZ in all aspects. However this may be because of some sort of speed regulation or the weight of the ZZ being considerably higher than that of the B-G.

I plan to dremel out parts of the abs plastic tub, remove windows from the body and grind away some of the body interior to save weight. I used to race 1/20 scale off road and I can tell you that weight is a big consideration.

Motors and gearing are another hige consideration. The higher the RPM's on the motor, the lower the torq it will have. You can however change the gear ratios toincrease torq. It's all a matter of finding the right combo for the weight of the vehicle vs the desired speed.

The zip zap gearing is as follows.

Blue Gear ..... 12:1
Green Gear .. 9.86 to 1
Red Gear ...... 8.25 to 1

The Motors are as follows.

Blue ........ 10,000 rpm
Green ..... 16,000 rpm
Red ......... 21,500 rpm
Yellow ..... 23,500 rpm

When mixing ghears and moptors the final rpm's change, lower gearing like 12:1 decreases top end and increases torq whereas 8.25:1 is the opposite.

Gears / Final RPM
Motor...... Blue ...... Green ...... Red
Blue ........ 833 ...... 1014 ...... 1212
Green...... 1333 ...... 1623 ...... 1939
Red ........ 1792 ...... 2181 ...... 2606
Yellow .... 1958 ...... 2383 ...... 2848

I fond that my ZZ is best with the yellow/red combo, but a friend is using Yellow/Blue because his ZZ seems to have a little problem with torq.

I am going to buy a voltmeter and test the batteries in the B-G and the ZZ however i can already tell there is a small weight difference in the bateries. I'm assuming ther are the same. They both have a 50mah rating and their charge lasts about 3 minutes. I have seen some 120mah batteries available for B-G's and ordered one already. They should have a 15-20 minute run time on a single charge.

I also plan to test the output voltage, meaning the final voltage sent to the motor to see if there has been an adjustment fr4om the B-G to the ZZ at the electronics level.

Lastly I'm planing on buying a postal scale that will measure in 100ths of an ounce and see if I can remove material as described earlier. Hopefully that will help.

The plastic tub looks big enough to allow a second battersy cell so I may play around with double voltage as well.

p.s. You can get more info about the ZZ cars at http://www.zipzaps.com

p.s.s. I haven't had a problem with the B-G motors in the ZZ.

The NiMH in my zz says it's a 100mah

I used a heated exacto knife last night to take out some of the material of the ZZ, I modified the electronics cover taking out a big chunk of the material and modified the sides of the tub by taking out a half inch of material. I finished it off by getting rid of the rear window of my mustang body.

My suggestions to are tobe real careful if attempting this, the wires going to the stearing are very tiny and could be cut easily.

I also ordered some HO scale lexan slot car bodies from a place online, I'm hoping that will help save weight as well.
