Xmods Spoilers

Here is some info I have on the Xmods from RadioShack. They are 1:28 scale not 1:60.

Some of the cars should be Starter sets Nissan Skyline, Acura RSX, Honda Civic (2 colors), Toyota Supra (2 colors), also body sets of each car as well. There will be Speed sets, Tire Sets, Stearing and Suspension set and (get this) AWD Kit, and a tool kit.

Some special order parts my even be a lap counter and transponders and custom decal sets. Can't wait to see how much of this stuff is actualy going to hit the stores. I'll post prices as soon as I know for sure. I do know that the catalog numbers will start with 60-8001 for the first starter and 60-8501 for the first upgrade parts.

Starter Kits are 60-8001 Nissan Skyline, 60-8002 Acura RSX, 60-8003 Honda Civic #1, 60-8004 Honda Civic #2, 60-8005 Toyota Supra #1, and 60-8006 Toyota Supra #2.

According to the toy guide the Xmods are to arrive in stores late October.

Finally, Some info! Good Looking CJ...imo this is heads and shoulders above ZZ SE ...although must admit i was hoping for 1:43. Who knows maybe it wont be a TRUE 1:24 scale car. Once again VERY much appreciated CJ.

C.J. ( or anyone who knows for that matter), im assuming that the XMODS will be available to order via 1800 the shack considering they wont be available nation wide in "brick and mortar outlets". If you can confirm that i would definently appreciate it. I dont mind that RS is , in essensce, testing the market but id like to at least be able to order an XMOD via telephone as opposed to locating a person within the city where they are being released and arranging a deal to have it shipped.

I've known about the Xmods for about 4 months but there was a disclosure agreement where I could;t say anything... BTW..in case you don't know... there will be a four-wheel-drive upgrade and they are 1/27-1/28 scale like Mini-Zs

We all watched "Bits" and ZZ's blow up over the last year here in the states but from what ive read Bits and Mini Z's have been huge for some time in Japan. I dont know how popular Mini Z is here in the states but do you think that RS XMODS are going to be a success in the US similar to the Mini Z success in Japan?

I just picked up three Nissan Skyline kits! The Radio Shack I found them at had 15 kits in all! All were Skylines, and they had no upgrades at the moment. Very nice, they are well made and control was smooth. The guy at Radio Shack had one together and let me use it in the store, very nice fit and finish with bodies and chassies. Comes with a clear, hard plastic case, with a foam insert that you can put your X MODS components in. Car takes 4 AAA and one 9Volt for the controller. Also they had the new ZZ SE Audi TT, nice also. Would post pics, but I don't have a camera.

they are a Radio Shack, but I think there are a privately owned store, if that is the proper terminology or way to say it. I don't know why they go by that name, inside it is all Radio Shack and there is a RS sign on the front of the store.

ok, I found out how it happened, seems the store he went to is a , how can I put it, a Franchise store, meaning they aren't a corporate store, and they seem to get stuff first (all the stores near me are corporate :>)

I just called My Pocono Electronics and yes, they do have them, but since it's over a 50 mile drive, I don't think it's worth it, I'll just wait for the local stores to get them lol

i've thought about it, maybe this weekend, I'll take a trip there and check things out, maybe trade my Savanah in for the Audi (not an Anime fan, and outside of videogames and such, never heard of Initial D, so the cars based on that don't do much for me, however, I would get the body kit for the motors and stuff, and the one Trueno body (I liked it when playing GT2)

I was just there last night, they had sixteen skylines left, and the X MODS battery charger with 8AAA, five or six of them. Also they had 3 gray Audi TT's. You should have no problem getting what you want.

I may be going tomorrow, not sure yet, I wish they had it closer :p dunno if I am getting an xmod, I will look at them though, esp if they have one set up, not interested in the skyline though.. I actually like my Corvette, dunno if I need an Xmod, unless they can work outside in a parking lot ;) ..
Otherwise I'll get a battery and charger for my old RC car

i live in wausau wisconsin and they got the skylines supras and rsx's here! they got them in about 15 hours ago! plus thgey are selling them at an intraductory price of $37.99!!! they have the body kits and speed hop ups and thats it for now, i bought an rsx with a bodykit and the 2nd speed up grade and i cajn tell the diference between this and my racing mini-z!!! holy crapo do these things go, but unfortunatly, i ran it into a wall and the hood/ front bumper kinda cracked, no big deal though, these are fun and highly encourage you guys to buy one! if you want, i can take orders and ship them 2 day air for $45.00, e-mail me if you want one! thanks, pat.

They are arriving in stores now. Also alll Company RS stores have a limit of 1 Starter ket per employee untill November 1st. The web and 1-800-the-shack will also be limiting them as well to 2 kits per sale.

Heh, that is a long story that has got me really upset. To make it short.......I called today and he told me my order was canceled because they were not supposed to order them like that, so I had to go get my money back. This was a RS on the other side of town that I usually don't deal with.

The manager at my regular store near me said he hopes to get them Friday and was going to hold one of everything for me. I know I can trust HIM to do that, as he has always done so for Zips.

I have found it easier to wait now that I have seen them and what not. I just look foreward to doing some body mods and custom paint jobs. The larger scale will allow me to do some fancy masking for stripes, etc.

First let me say the cars in the book are ugly compaired to the real thing. They are undetailed and un finished, the real cars arnt all jacked up in the air, have real looking headlights, and the bodies match up better. I think that prototypes were used for the pictures.

I have the Skyline and it look 100 times better than in the book and the same goes for the others!!!!

Praying ain't helping me. Looks like I will not be getting one until they sell them online. The manager here said all he was getting in was upgrades. No cars! He was told that only 3000 stores will get them until the first of the year, and none of the ones in this region are them. I mean, what the heck are we gonna do with upgrades without the dang cars! RS is beginning to get on my nerves. That is so stupid. Oh well, I still have my Zips.:(

im was wondering do any one know what the wire config is for the lighting setup? i wanna use my own leds for headlights only.i have some awesome uv leds and they are like a light purple .but they make everything gazy like.picture steam going bya headlight.real cool.i got extras if any one wants um for a lil profit like 1.00

the reason i cant get them is because of my grades. i got 1 d and i dont get my x mod until i get them up

the lighting setup is pretty cool, but nothing u could build. it is based on a circuit board that controls how brihgt the lights are and when. u might be able to just plug in the leds, but u need to wire them to a plug that fits in that little white socket in the top og the chassis. its about --- long. Have fun. If it works, i espect to see a pic. AND THERE BETTER BE STEAM IN THE PIC.lol. good luck

does any one know without getting my v-reADER,what prong is + and what is -. you say everything is controlled by a board on the lighting system but not before the plug.It must get some kinds signal from the reciever so i think your wrong a lil.Im sure there something i can do just to get a led working for headlights.

all that board does is regulate the voltage to the leds when "idle" but when the board recieves "acceleration" or "reverse" signal it increases the voltage to the leds making them brighter.

But sorry i don't have an answer to your ? i haven't had time to look very carefully at the prongs or the board (which is covered with shrink tubing)

I with you man. I got a C in science so I am gonna have to tone down on the spending at radioshack. Eh, I dont really need an XMOD though. $50 seems kinda of expensive for an XMOD. I might as well stick with zip zaps because I have so much upgrades. I can live with that. :)

If that's true, then like 3 out of 5 stores should have them. There are around 5 or 6 thousand radio shacks, right? (that's from their own website) The odds are good that they will only be at the high sales stores.

now, to figure out which ones those are...
