View Full Version : Squat Mini-Z bodies on DTM's?

I was wondering where I would get a body IF I bought a DTM... then I remembered that I still have two unpainted bodies that I purchased on the sister Mini-Zracer.com site for my Z's. Would those work on the DTM?
I really want to think this through before I dive headlong into this... LOL.

Horizon hobby, until tinyrc starts selling ABC items.

Mini-Z bodies are too small (1/28 scale)

The Thunderer, which bodies do you have, I can't recall? Some of the shells may fit, esp. if they are the free wheelbase size. The SP wheelbase is quite a lot longer than the Mini-Z, however (105-115mm if I recall correctly) so they may not look quite right. One of the F1 shells might be a better fit, I'll have to give it a try.

The Shells I have are the Ferrari Testarossa and the F40. I have yet to paint them or even take them out of their packages, but I know that they'd look good on the Z's.
In the Mag. Radio Control Car Action, it says that both the Mini-Z and the ABC cars are 1/24 scale (and that the BRP car was the fastest of the 5 tested). That's why I asked. Were they wrong?

RCCA aren't known for their accuracy I'm afraid. The DTM is 1/24 scale. The Mini-Z is 1/28 scale, however, the F1 is a slightly larger scale, though I don't think it is ever specified anywhere. The BRP is 1/18 scale, so it shouldn't be compared really. Basically the BRP kills Micro RS4s, and the DTM kills Mini-Zs. The Rocket Racer falls somewhere in between the DTM and the Z. I held some of the Squat shells up against my DTM and I don't think they would look right, they are a little bit smaller so the wheels would hang out even though you could conceivably mount one on the DTM by cutting the wheel wells further apart. Squat also makes LeMans bodies that go on the F1, I thought these might work on the DTM but when I compared them I found that the F1 shells are 130mm WB which is a bit too long for the 115mm max of the DTM.

Thanks for your help TinyRC. I'll probably just buy a body from Horizon Hobby... I'd rather buy here, but I guess I'll have to wait till you get them available. I'd rather Paypal than use a CC.
Anyone got a pic of the Supra and the Tom body for the DTM? I know I like one of them, but can't read Japanese on the Body page. Let me know!

Thanks - we're working on getting them - there are more available in Japan than in the US, so we'll be getting all of the rarer bodies etc.

Please make sure to have the RX-7, and MR2 body. Thanks, TRC. Also, I believe there is a new body, which is the Corvette C5.
