I only have a few setup tips for the DTM-SP:

This should make your car handle better on asphalt and carpet.

1. If you are going to use the rear spring, trim it so that the rear pod is level with he ground. In stock form, the spring is too long and pushes down on the motor pod.

2. Use the hardest springs possible for the front-end. I use the yellow springs from Kyosho's front spring upgrade pack for the Mini-Z.

why is it that my front right spring/suspension works fine, but the left side is not smooth at all, almost like no spring. it doesnt even compress when on the car without great pressure.

Try polishing the king-pin and make sure that the whole in the arm is free of dirt. You may need to enlarge the whole slightly.

ive already tried oil. the knuckle itself is free, but i think it has something to do with the springs.

Have you tried switching the spings from side to side? Trying different springs?

Truth be told, if it's not effecting your cars performance, than don't worry about it. :)

this tip is from irc. for the diff, you should put a little threadlock on the diff screw, to keep the diff tight.
