If you have a question not covered, ask and I'll try to answer (or if someone knows the answer, please reply).

#1: What's a Combat DigiQ?
A: It's a 1/144th Scale, InfraRed remote controlled, super detailed Tank! Offered by a Takara/Konami joint. Click HERE (http://tinyrc.com/gallery/combatdigiq) for some pictures.

#2: Where can I buy them, and how much do they cost?
A: They are made in Japan/Hong Kong. Unless you're a local, you're going to have to buy from a retailer that ships internationally, or buy from a local retailer that imported them (it's gonna cost). The kit (tank & controller) has an MSRP of 5980yen (~$50US) + shipping.

#3: These little tanks seem pricey, why?
A: Here's a few reasons...
- Super small scale, super high detail
- REAL treads (none of the fake treads with wheels underneath)
- Interactive 'lasertag' system built-in to all Tanks and their controllers!
- Changeable IDs!
- Coming Soon, tanks with remote controllable turrets!

#4: You mentioned 'lasertag' system? Can you elaborate?
A: What sets these little tanks apart from the other remote controlled tanks (other than the fact that there is NO other remote controlled tank at such a small scale, with such detail) is that they have a tiny, interactive, infrared laser built into the turrets of the tanks. The lasers interact with the controller and other tanks!

The system consists of;
The Tanks: When shooting they simulate the recoil of actual gunfire by jerking back slightly. They also simulate being shot by spinning when a shot is registered.

The Controllers: track how many shots left, reload delay, damage taken and who's on what team (if any are setup)

There's 6 modes of play:
- Single-player; Rehearsal, Battle, War Game
- Team-play; Rehearsal, Battle, War Game

#5: Changeable IDs?
A: Yup, There's a total of 4 IDs (1, 2, 3, 4). With the Combat DigiQ, you can assign 1 of any of the 4 IDs to a Tank at any time! This is an excellent feature because you can battle against the same tanks, just assign different IDs!

#6: Are the Turrets remote controllable too?
A: The current line of Tanks does NOT have controllable turrets, but Konami has announced (with videos!) that the version of the tanks WITH remote controllable turrets is coming soon!

#7: Where can I get more info?
A: There's a few good sources...
- Right here at the TinyRC forums
- The official website: HERE (http://www.konami.co.jp/cp/micro_ir/combat/index.html) (it's in japanese though)
- The English translated manual: HERE (http://www.toyeast.com/COMBATQ00.htm)

New Info...

#6: Answer is NO, the turrets are NOT remote controllable. Though you can move the turret manually, you can NOT control the turning from the remote.

Some other new info...
- The controller has 2 sticks for control. The left stick controls the speed (how fast to go forward or reverse), while the right stick controls direction (left or right).
- The tanks can handle high-grade climbs! Someone mentioned going as steep as 60°!!!

Got my Tanks tonight and so far it's a BLAST! I love em!...And the REALLY COOL PART?? My Fiancé loves it too!

Some more things I've noticed so far...

- Decent range on the shots! You can be a good 3feet away and still register a hit
- NOISY devils! The motor/gears sounds like shakin a bag of gravel!
- You HAVE TO line up your shots! None of that shoot in the 'general' area...If you want to hit your opponent, you have to be AIMING at them!
- These Tanks are definitely geared for torgue! I wouldn't be surprised, if you found a way to make the treads stick, that it could scale a 90° climb!
- I notice that unless you've got a solid line of sight, some commands can get delayed or even not register...Not much of a problem though.
- Hey! you can run them on rugs!

All in all...WELL WORTH the price! I LOVE em!

If you cant see the video. Here is a description.

Its shows the tank drive forward.

As it moving, a small magnetic disk is in its path.

When it get over the disk it starts to do a buzz-buzz-buzz sound while the front light lower on the body lights up red.

As its buzzing it starts to spin in place one way then the other.

Then stops.

I wonder if you guys can help me out. I got my tanks today. I've only opened and assembled one. I have followed the [english] instructions provided by toyeast. The charging process seems to work as described (busy for 10 mins. and then goes 'ok'. I then switch the button on the bottom of the tank to on. I turned the on/off switch on the controller to off. I moved the middle button to the top position. I have the tank set for ID 1. I then turn the controller to the on / single player mode position.

But, the tank doesn't do anything. no movement, no sound. Any ideas? I have changed the ID by following the instructions. Still nothing. I don't need to have both tanks set up and going, do I?

Thanks in advance!
David

I guess this should be added. I mentioned it in another thread.

Tank shots have a 'splash' damage effect.
Tank 1 can hit Tank 2 & 3 with one shot if 2 & 3 are
close together or touching.
About one tank length's proximity.

Another neat thing about shots in general.
Tanks don't have to be on the same ground level.
This is cool if, for instance, one tank is on the ground
and another is up/below on a bridge or plateau.

I noticed when I took the tank apart for cleaning that there is a small gear in the turret. Apparently they plan or planned on the turret being controlled via this gear.

Anybody know how to make the treads stick better, they seem to slip a lot

Hi I am new at this board and I´m from germany, so please forgive me my bad english.

@SteinyD
One explanation at the ToyEast site is completely wrong. They say you have to focus your controller with the font to your tank, when you want to transfer your new ID to the Tank. This is wrong. On the under or backside of the controller, right where you load the tank, is another very small LED/IR. Focus with on to your tank, then press the ID button on the controller and everything works well.

I hope is helps.

Hello Tim,

You should wash the treads with some foam from time to time to clean the inside - this helps a lot. But never forget a little slipping sometimes helps not to ruin the gearings or that the gears on the drivingaxle become slipping !

Hey thanks...your right I never thought about a little slip preventing damage...sometimes they slip a little to much..I'll try the foam
